The night bird is the owl. Many people associate it with knowledge and wisdom. She always delights children with her unusually large eyes. Therefore, you can always crochet an “Owl” toy. Moreover, the technologies can be very different - from the simplest model, when the entire owl consists of one part, to the very complex.

Simple owl

To make it you will need cotton yarn and a hook of a suitable size. In order for the “Owl” toy (crocheted) to gain volume, any filler, such as cotton wool, will be useful. For beautiful eyes you will need black beads or small buttons. Although you can use floss threads and embroider the pupils.

During the knitting process there will be no transition to a new row, because amigurumi is knitted in a spiral. In order not to get confused in the loops, experienced craftswomen recommend using a marker for the beginning of the row. This could be a special ring or a piece of yarn in a contrasting color.

Main detail of an owl

Knit 6 single crochet stitches (later they will be called “stitches”).

In the first four circles, add 6 columns. Do this as evenly as possible.

The next seven rows are knitted without changing the number of stitches. To make the toy match your mood, you can alternate different shades of yarn. It will look like striped clothes. This is where the torso ends.

At the beginning of the next row, decrease one stitch. This is where the owl's head starts.

Knit 6 circles without changing the number of loops. Add filler to the toy.

In the last row, the hole at the top of the toy is closed and ears are formed. To do this, you need to connect the two halves together and tie 6 columns through them. Then make one stitch, crocheting through the loops of the previous row, and again 6 stitches.

Item: eye

In a moving amigurumi loop, knit 11 double crochets, making three lifting loops. Fasten the thread and leave it so that you can sew the eye to the toy.

Detail: beak

On a chain of three air loops, knit 2 single crochets. In the second row, make them with a common top. The last row consists of This is the whole pattern (crocheted). The owl is almost ready.

All that remains is to connect all the parts together. If you wish, you can tie a small loop and sew it to the head. Now the owl can be hung.

Complex owl: body

Knit a ring of 4 chain stitches. In the first row, make 6 single crochets. In the second, at each top of the column, perform two of them. Then continue increasing the number of columns by six so that you get 6 identical wedges. There should be nine such rows with increasing numbers.

There is no need to increase the next eight rows. Then you need to decrease 6 stitches in one row just as evenly. Three rounds of knitting continue with a straight fabric.

Next row: decrease 6 more stitches. Then another 6 circles without reducing the number of columns. Again two rows of even decreases. Two circles: straight canvas. Fill the “Owl” toy (crocheted) with stuffing. 4 more rows: decrease 6 stitches each. Fasten the thread and sew up the hole.

Complex owl: beak and eyes

Make a chain of 4 loops again and close it into a ring. In the first row of the beak of the “Owl” toy, crochet 4 single crochets. Then for three rows there should be an increase of two loops in each. Fasten the thread and fill the part with filler.

By analogy with the beak, you need to make two legs. Just increase by three loops, and then also reduce the number of stitches. You don’t need to stuff them very tightly so that you can bend the paws and place the toy on them. The tail is supposed to be made in the same way. He will be the third fulcrum.

Owl eyes: circles. They fit like this:

  • ring of 4 loops;
  • 6 single crochets;
  • make an increase of 6 stitches in the next 4 rows.

You need to sew a black bead or button into the center of such a circle to make the eye look like a real one. For greater realism, you can make another circle, but with a smaller diameter, from white threads. It will need to be placed between the button and the large circle.

Complex owl: wings and ears

The hook will continue the wing. It repeats the circle for the eye. You just need to do increments of 4. And increase the number of laps by two. This will make it convex. It will seem that it has the volume necessary for the wing. It will be necessary to sew it to the body along the entire length. It is advisable to also add filler under it.

Ear for the “Owl” toy (crocheted) - knitting description:

  • on a ring of 4 loops, perform 6 single crochets;
  • make an increase of two columns in three rows in a row.

All that remains is to fasten the thread and sew the flat ears to the owl’s head.

Owl on a Kinder Surprise egg

Crocheting an owl is not difficult, but it is very easy to please your baby with a new product. First you need to make two halves for a container from Kinder Surprise.

To do this, knit 10 single crochets using a thin amigurumi loop. In the first row, increase by 5 stitches. Do the same in the second and third circles.

Crochet the head for the “Owl” toy in the same way (crochet). A description of the remaining parts is not required, because detailed diagrams are provided for them. Sew all the details in the right places. You can sew a loop and hang the toy on the Christmas tree or make a cute keychain.

Simple owl amigurumi

Preparing materials

  • 2 hooks measuring 2.5 mm and 3 mm;
  • yarn 100 g/50 m. 1 skein of the main color, a little white yarn for the eyes and orange for the beak;
  • 2 eyes - pupils, they can be bought at any handicraft store;
  • filler (sintepon or holofiber);
  • thread and needle to sew the parts together.

Advice! For knitting toys, choose 100% cotton or acrylic.

If you took yarn that is thinner or thicker than recommended, then knit with the crochet hook indicated on the skein of yarn.

Abbreviations:

  • VP - air loop,
  • RLS - single crochet,
  • Dc - double crochet.

Let's start knitting an owl.

Eyes

Using a 2.5 mm white thread, use a 2.5 mm crochet hook to cast on 4 chain stitches and close it into a ring. We knit 5 rows according to pattern 1.

1st row: 6 RLS.
Row 2: make 6 increments evenly. Makes 12 columns
3rd row: make 6 more increases evenly through each column.

We knit 2 more rows in the same way according to the pattern. The first eye for the toy is ready!

Using the same principle, tie the second eye. There are 2 small circles in front of us. Insert plastic eyes-pupils into the center of the circle. If you were unable to find them, then you can get by with black beads; we sew them onto the resulting circles; the toy will not suffer at all from this.

Let's continue working, torso:

Using a thread of the main color with a 3mm crochet hook, cast on 4 VPs and close it into a ring.

1st row: knit 6 sc, then divide the circle into 6 wedges and in subsequent rows add 6 sc evenly (Diagram 1.). So we knit 9 rows. In the 10th row you should get a circle of 54 stitches. From the 10th to 17th row: we do not increase, we continue to knit 54 stitches.

Row 18: decrease stitches evenly every 7 sc. We knit up to 22 rows without decreases.

The moment has come when you need to sew eyes on the toy. They should be located approximately between rows 8 and 17 of the body. We continue to knit the main fabric.

Row 22: decrease 6 times every 6 stitches. We should have 42 columns left. Rows 23 to 29: knit without decreasing. Row 29: make 6 decreases evenly, that is, every 5 stitches. Row 30: make 6 decreases evenly, every 4 stitches.

At this stage, be sure to insert the stuffing into the owl.

From 31 to 32 rows: we knit without decreasing. From 33 to 36 rows: we make 6 decreases evenly in each row.

We cut the working thread and sew it carefully so that there is no hole left. The future toy will lie aside for some time.

By the way, you can be inspired by other options for knitted owls:

Let's continue working, beak:

Using a thread of the main or orange color, use a 2.5mm crochet hook to cast on 4 VPs and close it into a ring.

1st row: 4 RLS.
Row 2: RLS, increase* 2 times.
3rd row: 2 RLS, increase* 2 times.
4th row: 3 RLS, increase * 2 times.

The beak is ready. Fill it with filler.

Wings:

Using a 3mm crochet thread of the main color, cast on 5 VPs and close it into a ring.

1st row: 6 RLS. 2nd row: RLS, 3 VP, SSN, RLS, SSN, 2 half-columns, RLS, 2 increases.

3rd row: use a contrasting thread to tie all the columns of the previous row with single crochets.

Knit the second wing.

Using a thread of the main color with a 3mm hook, cast on 4 VPs and close it into a ring.

1st row: 6 RLS. 2nd row: 2 RLS, increase* 2 times.

3rd row: 3 RLS, increase* 2 times.

4th row: 4 RLS, increase* 2 times.

Tie the second ear.

The toy is almost finished. Let's begin the final assembly of the owl.

Sew the beak between the 15th and 19th rows of the body. We fasten the ears on rows 8 and 9. Next we sew the wings between rows 19 and 29, but not completely, leaving the pointed end of the wing unsewn.

Owl on a tree

Product difficulty level: for beginners.

Materials for work

  • cotton thread size 8;
  • hook 0.75 mm;
  • soft filling for the toy, you can use padding polyester, cotton wool or foam rubber;
  • needle;
  • scissors.

Product size: 3.6 cm

Note: Toy may vary in size depending on yarn selection. To calculate the required volume, you need to knit a sample: a ring of single crochet loops.

Progress

The work is done with pink yarn in the round, i.e. in a single crochet spiral.

  1. Make a chain with a crochet hook of 6 loops, and secure its end with the beginning in one ring.
  2. In the next row, knit each loop 2 times. Now there are 12 loops in the work.
  3. 3rd row knit 1 loop 1 time, 2nd loop 2 times. The product has increased to 18 loops.
  4. Continue knitting in the round, knitting every 2nd stitch 2 times. There are 24 loops in the spiral.
  5. In the 5th row, knit every 3rd loop 2 times. In total, there are 30 loops in the product.
  6. Continue to increase the spiral to 36 loops, now knitting every 4th loop 2 times.
  7. Increase the next row to 42 stitches, re-knitting every 5th stitch.
  8. From the 9th to the 15th row, continue knitting with 42 loops in a row.
  9. Having reached the 16th row, reduce the spiral to 36 loops, knitting every 5th loop together.
  10. From the 17th to the 19th row, continue knitting with 36 loops.
  11. Start imperceptibly decreasing stitches from 36 to 30, knitting every 4th stitch together.
  12. Knit another round, keeping to 30 stitches in a row.
  13. On the next row, start knitting every 4th stitch together, you should end up with 24 stitches together.
  14. Continue decreasing the work to 18 stitches per row, knitting every 3rd stitch together.
  15. Imperceptibly reduce the volume of the product to 12 loops in a row, now knitting every 2nd loop together.
  16. In the final row, reach 6 loops in the row, knitting every 2nd loop.
  17. Pull the long thread into the last loop and cut, securing the chain. You need to leave enough thread to sew up the hole.
  18. Insert soft material into the small hole that follows the shape of the owl's body.
  19. Using a needle, sew the incision inconspicuously.

The owl's body is ready.

The upper part, that is, the head, should be larger than the lower. You need to tie the ears on it. Select 2 areas for the ears at a certain distance from each other.

  1. Crochet 6 loops on the owl's head in place of the first ear.
  2. Knit in the round, decreasing to 5 stitches.
  3. Pull the thread through the last loop and carefully use a needle to hide it inside the ear.
  4. Repeat the second ear in the same way.

The wings are knitted in the round to form a disc. Then fold this disk in half, sew it in a semicircle and attach it to the owl’s body.

Knitting discs:

  1. Knit a ring of 6 loops.
  2. Increase the volume of the disc to 12 loops, knitting every 2nd loop again.
  3. Continue increasing the disc to 18 stitches, also knitting every 2nd stitch a second time.
  4. In a similar way, increase the number of loops to 24, then to 30 loops.
  5. Pull the thread out of the last loop and secure the work.
  6. Complete the second one in the same order.

Now you need to close your eyes.

To do this you will need white yarn, preferably a little fluffier than the previous one.

  1. Cast on 9 loops into the ring and secure.
  2. Increase the disc to 15 loops, knitting every 2nd loop twice.
  3. Attach the disk and sew it to the owl's face.
  4. Insert a black bead as a pupil.
  5. Perform the second eye in the same way.

The next stage is knitting the belly. It can also be done with white thread.

  1. Cast on 6 loops in the ring.
  2. Knit in the round with a disc, increasing to 12 stitches.
  3. Then increase to 14, 18 and 24 loops, knitting every 2nd loop 2 times.
  4. Fasten the work and sew it to the owl's belly.

The final stage is knitting paws. For them you need to choose orange yarn.

  1. Tie a braid into 4 loops.
  2. Knit it in reverse order, forming a thick thread.
  3. Knit 4 more loose loops and go back, knitting them a second time.
  4. Knit 4 more loops and also knit them back. You will get 3 fingers.
  5. Knit the other leg in the same way. Sew both legs to the owl from below. The owl is ready.

For an owl, you can knit a stand in the form of a twig into which strong wire is placed. The branch stands on a disk, which also contains a solid axis.

The night bird with big eyes is a very fashionable symbol; its images can be found on clothing, accessories, jewelry and even in the interior. Perhaps this popularity is explained by the appearance in 2012 of a clothing collection with the image of an owl, or the world-famous books and films about the young wizard played a role. But be that as it may, the owl is at the peak of fashion, which means you need to create your own collection of knitted owls.

Knitting an owl toy

For kids and adults, a toy in the shape of an owl, knitted with knitting needles, will be an excellent gift. Even novice craftswomen can cope with creating a bird; the main thing is to choose the right pattern. Owl toys are:

  • simple, square-shaped;
  • more complex, with separately knitted body parts.

You can knit a toy using a different number of knitting needles, it all depends on the pattern and skills of the needlewoman. The knitting should be as tight as possible so that the owl holds its shape and the filling does not come out of the loops.

Owls are a symbol of wisdom, they are now popular with children, they are so cute. Since there are a great many of them, we will consider not one, but several types at once.
We invite you to learn how to crochet an owl with amigurumi, the article is aimed at beginners or beginners with diagrams, descriptions, master classes, videos and photos.

The simplest owl can be knitted quickly in literally 20-30 minutes with an already decorated muzzle and an embroidered beak.

As in the photo, this is a keychain option that is perfect for a handbag, phone, keys, and also as a gift for a child.

Have you already decided which one you want to knit? A voluminous and soft amigurumi or a small keychain, or maybe you want a hat or phone case in the shape of an owl or an applique?

It will not be clear to crochet an owl without an exact definition of what kind it is, so even before you start knitting, decide whether you want a palm-sized toy or a phone case; even the most beginners will have enough patience for this.

But a hat or a large toy is for more experienced craftswomen.

Let's look at what other owls there are.

They come in different sizes, voluminous and flat, which allows them to become both a patch on mittens and socks, and a separate toy, a keychain for a phone or keys, which has a useful secret.
A patch or applique is an owlet, which takes 5 minutes to knit; decorating and sewing on eyes and paws takes another 10-15 minutes.

Pay attention to the photo, there are 4 options for owls. The first one is flat, the rest of the amigurumi toys are three-dimensional, the third photo is an owlet with a kinder capsule inside, the rest are soft.

Which one to choose?

If you are a beginner or beginner, then start with stripes; voluminous owls are already for those who have mastered 2-3 types of basic loops. How to crochet an owl for beginners, the easiest way is the flat version in the form of stripes, they are presented in video format.

If you decide to decorate a case or an owl, we suggest you crochet flowers using master classes for beginners, which are available at the link.

A cap

For those who have already figured out how to knit an owl, namely the eyes and beak, we suggest knitting a hat for girls and boys. Step-by-step instructions for knitting a hat:

  1. Take measurements.
  2. Calculation of the bottom and number of rows, as well as depth.
  3. Choose threads and a hook depending on the model of the hat; for summer - cotton (Begonia, Lilu, Azalea, COCO) for autumn - spring acrylic (YarnArt “Baby”, Alize) or cotton (jeans) is suitable.
  4. Link a sample for calculation.
  5. Watch the video and description to understand what kind of hat you want to receive. The model can fit tightly to the head and follow the contours, or it can resemble a cup or be a cap without a tight fit.
  6. Understand knitting loops and start knitting.

There is a separate section about measurements and calculations, where diagrams are given and described, as well as recommendations for knitting different patterns.
Look and make a calculation, based on the results of these calculations we will begin to knit a hat. According to the diagram, choose which stitches you will knit with. The videos below are of hats knitted with double crochets.

We invite you to knit a simple owl hat, for this we will consider it in detail. The very basis of the hat is a cap, eyes are large circles, a nose is a triangle, ears with tassels, ties and ears covering your child’s ears.

A hat made of 2 contrasting colors looks more impressive.
Step by step description:

  1. We make an amigurumi ring, knit the 1st loop into the ring, then 3 ch and 11 dc into the ring. We tighten the ring. Connecting loop with 1СН for closing the circle. (12p).
  2. 3VP, in each loop 2DC (increase by one base), SS (connecting stitch) (24 sts).
  3. 3VP, Increase dc in the same base, dc, 2dc (increase in one base) alternate until the end of the row), SS (36 sts).
  4. 3VP, Increase dc in the same base, 2 dc, 2 dc (increase in one base) so we alternate until the end of the row, SS (48 sts).
  5. 3VP, Increase dc in the same base, 3dc, in the next loop 2dc (increase by one base), 3dc, 2dc (increase by one base) so we alternate until the end of the row, ss (60p).
  6. 3VP, Increase dc in the same base, 4dc, in the next loop 2dc (increase by one base), 4dc, 2dc (increase by one base) so we alternate until the end of the row SS (72p).
  7. The diameter of the cap is 11.5 cm. Which one do you need? Compare with your calculations.
    If you need a larger head volume, then continue adding loops.

    The approximate calculation is OG/ 3.14 = Bottom diameter + 1 cm for a looser fit if the threads do not stretch and -1 cm if the yarn stretches a lot.
    Example: OG 50 cm, then 50/3.14 = 15.92 cm bottom diameter. When you have knitted the required volume, continue knitting like this:

  8. We further knit the desired depth of the cap without any increments. We recommend trying it on a child or a model.

Ears for a hat

We count the number of columns in your header and divide this number by 5. We distribute them like this:

Front part - 2 parts - 34 loops, side parts 1 each and back of the head - 17 loops.
It is necessary to mark with markers or thread of a different contrasting color.

  1. Now, in the place where the eye will be, insert a hook where the beginning will be and pull out the working thread. We knit 3VP, we knit to the end of the row of dc. (17p)
  2. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 columns. (15p).
  3. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 columns. (13p).
  4. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 columns. (11p).
  5. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 columns. (9p).
  6. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 columns. (7p).
  7. 2VP, in the second braid, Dc (it turns out 2Dc with the 1st vertex - this is a decrease), at the end of the row on the last 2 loops there is also a Decrease - 1 braid from 2 stitches. We finish knitting by cutting the thread and pulling it out. (5p).

We knit the second ear in the same way. Tie the entire cap with half-stitches or single crochets.

Video tutorial on knitting an owl hat for a girl:
Now you have mastered several options for crocheting an owl at once: hats, appliqués, covers, amigurumi soft toys and rattles, all that remains is to improve some skills and knit mitts or another thing in a more complex version. We wish you good luck in your creativity!

If a person has even basic needlework skills, then tying an owl is not difficult. The main thing is to be able to read diagrams and have on hand all the necessary materials that are needed to create crafts. A knitted toy will delight a child with its unusual appearance and will be an excellent gift.

Basic materials and tools, necessary for knitting:

  1. Thin yarn (cotton 50%, acrylic 50%). The volume of thread depends on the size of the future toy.
  2. Hook No. 2.5.
  3. Regular sewing needle.
  4. Sewing threads.
  5. Black beads and fabric for the eyes or special accessories that can be purchased at any craft store.
  6. Filling for toys (sintepon or cotton wool). The quantity depends on the size of the product.
  7. A special carabiner (plastic or metal), if the toy is planned to be designed as a keychain.

Making a toy

A crocheted owl, patterns and descriptions of which can be found in advance, can be a good gift for a baby or loved one. First you need to decide on the type of craft. The toy can be with or without a body, only one head. Knitting starts from the bottom up, ending at the top of the figure.

First you need to cast 6 air loops on the hook and connect them in a circle:

  • 1 row is knitted from 6 single crochets (hereinafter in the text - sc);
  • in the 2nd row you need to double the sc so that you end up with 12 loops;
  • from rows 3 to 12 you need to increase and decrease according to the pattern.

Figure No. 1

A crocheted owl, made according to the pattern and exactly according to the instructions, should have a neat appearance; for this you need to ensure that the columns are uniform and the knots remain on the wrong side of the product.

The body and all other parts of the toy (if they are available according to the pattern) are knitted according to the same principle. You need to make a loop on your head for the keychain toy.

Beak and eyes

Accessories for the beak and eyes can be purchased at a specialty store and glued or sewn on. But if it is not possible to purchase them, or the toy is intended for a small child who can tear off the glued parts, then it's better to tie them up.

The amigurumi owl beak is knitted in the following sequence: cast on 4 stitches and join them into a circle. Knit the first row 4 sc, and then 3 rows with an increase of 2 loops in each. Next, you need to secure the loops and fill the part with filler.

The same principle should be used to knit the tail and ears. If desired, you can decorate the tips of the ears with thread tassels.

The eyes of a little owl are 2 circles that need to be knitted in the following way:

  • connect the cast-on 4 loops into a ring;
  • knit 6 sc;
  • in the next 4 rows increase by 6 stitches.

You can glue, or better yet, sew beads-pupils. If you plan to knit a multi-colored owl, then during the work you need to monitor the alternation of colors.

Connecting parts

When all the parts are ready, you need to connect them together, pre-filled with padding polyester or other filler.

You should start from the head, connect it to the body. Carefully sew on all other parts. It is important to ensure that the paired parts are arranged symmetrically, and that the threads match the knitted fabric. The little owl is ready. The composition can be complemented by an owlet made according to the same pattern, but smaller in size.

You can make a sheep keychain using the same principle, using suitable patterns and materials. The toy will turn out to be kind and soft, children will love it.
