Approximately in the middle of the third trimester of pregnancy, it is necessary to decide what to take to the hospital. It is necessary to do this in advance so that by the 36-37th week the necessary things are in the collection. After all, childbirth can begin earlier than expected. And fees on the day of childbirth are fraught with the fact that you can forget a lot of important and necessary things. Before you start packing, you can check with your maternity hospital what you need to take with you and what is unacceptable to take. Each hospital has its own rules and recommended lists.

Basic principles

  • Collect the necessary documents in a separate folder or file.
  • You need to collect things strictly in plastic bags or bags. According to the sanitary and epidemiological regime in maternity hospitals, it is unacceptable to bring things in fabric or leather bags.
  • We are preparing 3 packages for the maternity hospital: for the delivery room, the postpartum ward and for discharge. This distribution will help you quickly find the right thing at every stage of your stay in the hospital. It will be even better if the bags are transparent.
  • In each package put a piece of paper with a list of things.
  • You can leave the package intended for discharge at home and tell relatives to bring it on the day of the solemn event.
  • If the plans include joint childbirth with a relative, then we are preparing a clothing package for him.

List of required documents

We take with us:

  • Identification document (passport).
  • Compulsory medical insurance (compulsory medical insurance) policy.
  • An exchange card issued in the antenatal clinic with all tests and examinations.
  • Birth certificate. It is issued by an obstetrician-gynecologist of the antenatal clinic at 30 weeks with a singleton pregnancy. If the pregnancy is multiple, then the certificate is issued at 28 weeks.
  • Sick leave, opened in the antenatal clinic. It is usually issued along with a birth certificate within the prescribed time frame.
  • Contract for paid management of childbirth and the postpartum period (if the contract was concluded on an individual basis).

We collect the first package: what should I take with me to the birth?

This group includes things necessary for a woman during childbirth and for a child immediately after birth.

We take the following for ourselves:

  • Cotton robe and shirt. You can buy the kit right now.
  • Two pairs of warm socks (not woolen). Chills often appear during childbirth. They can also be useful after childbirth.
  • Washable flat shoes.
  • Pure drinking non-carbonated water. We take 2 bottles of 0.5 ml. You can take a thermos with herbal tea, if it is not prohibited by the rules of the maternity hospital, as well as light food. But, as a rule, there is no particular appetite during childbirth.
  • Small towel (terry) Useful for wiping the face with cold water.
  • Hygienic lipstick. During childbirth, the lips dry very strongly, and lipstick will help to avoid drying out and the formation of microcracks.
  • If the hair is long, do not forget to put an elastic band or hair clip.
  • Elastic stockings or bandages for the lower extremities. Especially if you have varicose veins in your legs.
  • Disposable toilet pads.

In the delivery room for the child we take:

  • NB size diaper (for babies up to 5 kg).
  • A cap with strings or a thin hat.
  • Socks and anti-scratch gloves.
  • Flannel diaper.
  • Baikovy blanket.

Children's things are needed immediately after the birth of the baby. They must be washed and ironed on both sides, except for the diaper.

If the birth is planned with a partner, then he needs to take the following:

  • The passport.
  • The conclusion of the fluorographic examination. Other tests may be needed. This must be clarified in the hospital in advance.
  • Clean clothes (light pants, T-shirt or surgical suit), change of shoes.
  • Disposable mask and cap.
  • Camera or video camera (optional).

Putting together the second package: things to stay in the postpartum ward

2 hours after a successful delivery, the mother and newborn are transferred to the "mother and child" ward, where they stay for about 3 days. For this period, you need to take with you the following:

What to take with you for the child?

Some maternity hospitals prohibit bringing any supplies for the newborn, and allow only disposable diapers and creams. But many institutions do not prevent this, and even recommend bringing personal items for the child, up to diapers.

Therefore, it is better to check in advance at the maternity hospital what you can take with you. If there are no special restrictions, then for the newborn we take the following:

Clothes:

  • hats or bonnets - 3-4 pieces;
  • anti-scratch mittens and socks - 2-3 pairs each;
  • undershirts are thin and warm - 4 pcs each;
  • rompers or semi-overalls (thin and warm) - 4 pcs each;
  • quilt blanket.

All things for the baby must be taken washed and ironed on both sides.

If the estimated weight of the child is between 3 and 3.7 kg, then size 56 can be taken. If the baby is expected to be large, then it is better to take things one size larger (62).

We collect the package for an extract

For a newborn we prepare:

Things for mom:

  • cosmetic bag with decorative cosmetics;
  • hair dryer or curling iron (optional);
  • unscented gel or hairspray;
  • hairpins, elastic bands, hair ornaments;
  • we take clothes (preferably looser), shoes;
  • perfumes or toilet water should not be taken, they can cause allergies in a newborn.

Be sure to take care of the transportation of the newborn from the hospital home. In advance, purchase a child seat or infant carrier for children from birth in the car.

If you plan to transport a child by taxi, then you need to notify the dispatcher about the need for a child seat.

When discharged from the hospital, do not forget to take all personal belongings, and most importantly documents:

  • medical birth certificate for registration of a newborn in the registry office;
  • discharge epicrisis from the history of the development of the newborn for the local pediatrician;
  • extract from the history of childbirth for the gynecologist from the antenatal clinic.

If the birth began unexpectedly, and the packages have not yet been collected, then you should not panic. Many maternity hospitals provide women and newborns with everything they need. The main thing is to take the necessary documents for admission to the hospital. Other things can be collected by relatives and brought a little later.

Let's start with the fact that hospitalization can be planned, for example, if the results of another study showed that the health of the expectant mother or fetus requires constant medical supervision, while the general condition of the woman does not suffer and there is no threat to her life or the life of the baby. In this case, the doctor of the antenatal clinic writes out a referral to a hospital at the place of residence. But you can apply to any specialized hospital of your choice for a fee. It is possible to delay hospitalization by 1-2 days if family and other circumstances do not allow you to go to the hospital immediately. In this case, the expectant mother signs a paper stating that she has been warned of possible complications.

Emergency hospitalization is necessary in case of pregnancy complications requiring urgent medical intervention. Such complications include bleeding from the genital tract, severe pain in the abdomen, sudden loss of consciousness, etc. In the latter case, the direction of the attending doctor, of course, is not required - you need to call an ambulance or immediately go to the nearest maternity hospital.

Get your documents ready!
In the event that hospitalization is planned and you have agreed on its date with your doctor in advance, you have the opportunity to thoroughly prepare for hospitalization. If you need emergency hospitalization, when you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible, there is usually not enough time for fees. We list the necessary minimum documents that are always required for hospitalization in a hospital.

The future mother's purse must contain a passport and a compulsory medical insurance policy. Without them, as a rule, not a single appointment with a doctor can do, and even more so they will be needed during hospitalization, whether it is the onset of childbirth or the need to go to the hospital with the threat of termination of pregnancy. Another important document that should be in the purse is the exchange card, which contains all information about the course of this pregnancy, the results of tests and all examinations. An exchange card is issued to a woman at 28-32 weeks of pregnancy. By agreement with the attending doctor, the exchange card will be issued after the 12th week of pregnancy, this may be especially necessary in case of any concomitant pathology or complicated course of the pregnancy itself. In this case, if emergency hospitalization is necessary, the exchange card will be at hand with the necessary minimum of tests entered into it (general blood and urine tests, RW, HIV, hepatitis B and C). At each visit to the doctor of the antenatal clinic, you must present him with an exchange card to enter new data into it - an examination and the results of the examination, which will be required by the doctor of the admission department for a preliminary assessment of your condition. Without an exchange card at the time of hospitalization, you run the risk of getting into the observational department of the maternity hospital, in which there are unexamined women who were admitted urgently and without documents, which means that they pose a potential risk of infection of other women in labor and newborns, as well as women suffering from various infectious diseases.

Before the exchange card is in hand, it would be good to have copies of all tests and ultrasound. In addition, along with the documents, you must keep with you all extracts from the hospital if you are not hospitalized for the first time.

Emergency hospitalization always involves a minimum of time for fees. Therefore, the most important item on your list is the availability of documents (passport, insurance policy, exchange card), especially when an unforeseen situation requiring urgent medical assistance arose outside the home. In this regard, it is recommended to keep all these papers in one place and always have them with you when going outside.

Necessary things
If an emergency occurs at home, there are a couple of minutes before the ambulance arrives to put a toothbrush, soap, a towel, a change of shoes, a nightgown and a dressing gown in the bag. Everything else will be taken later by relatives.

If prenatal (planned) hospitalization is required (in case of a planned caesarean section, as well as in case of complicated pregnancy - fetal growth retardation, chronic intrauterine fetal hypoxia, placenta previa, etc.), you have time to deliberately collect a bag with everything necessary. For convenience, you can make a list of items that will be required in the hospital, and cross off items from it as the bag fills up.

Here is a more complete set of necessary things that you can prepare for the day of a planned hospitalization, when you have several hours, or even days, to think everything over and not forget anything. In addition to the above documents, you need to have easy-to-wash slippers with you, you can take two pairs of slippers: one at home - you can walk around the ward in them, and others are rubber - you can go to examinations, to the treatment room, to shower in them. The pathology department needs comfortable change of clothes - a bathrobe or a light sports set, 1-2 nightgowns or cotton T-shirts, underwear, socks. Do not forget to take hygiene items - a toothbrush and paste, a towel, a toilet paper roll, paper napkins, soap, shampoo, a washcloth, as well as deodorant (unscented if possible), a comb and an elastic band for hair. Do not be afraid to put something superfluous: it is better to lay out an unnecessary thing later and give it to relatives than to be without the usual and necessary things.

Every woman wants to be beautiful even in the hospital, for which one should not forget about self-care. So don't forget to take a jar of your favorite face cream with you. If it is assumed that before childbirth you will be in the hospital, then focus on the postpartum period. For example, hand cream should be used with caution when communicating with a newborn: the smell of fragrances that make up the cream may not please the baby. The same can be said about soaps or shower gels, the smells of which can be irritating to the child. Therefore, choose these care products as fragrance-free as possible. If you use decorative cosmetics, then take it too: your mood depends on your appearance. Don't forget to bring a manicure set with you to keep your hands well-groomed.

There is always a lot of free time in the hospital to fill it with benefit, take an interesting book, an educational magazine or a guide for expectant mothers with you. The latter has probably become your reference book in general. Or maybe you yourself prepare a dowry for your baby - knit him a hat or blouse, embroider a pillowcase? In this case, do not forget your needlework at home: it will help you pass the time. You can take a player or even a laptop with you - you will be provided with interesting leisure time. OK it's all over Now! The bag is packed. All captured? Oh yes, a mobile phone (and a charger for it), you can’t do without it. Now, it seems, really took all the essentials.

All future mothers are trying to prepare for childbirth as best as possible, and all women who have given birth unanimously repeat: “I could not even imagine that it would be like this!”

Yes, perhaps, it is simply impossible to be 100% emotionally and physically prepared for childbirth. Reality always exceeds our expectations. But it is all the more important to foresee all everyday and material issues so as not to be distracted by all sorts of trifles, but to focus on what is really important.

Don't want to explain to your husband or mom over the phone what kind of underpants you should bring? Gather all the necessary things for the hospital in advance, put them in a convenient bag and put them in a conspicuous place.

When to pack a bag for the hospital?

It is advisable to carry the necessary documents with you constantly from the 32nd week, because pregnancy is an unpredictable time. The “alarm case”, that is, all the necessary things for the maternity hospital, arranged in bags, is best collected by the 36th week of pregnancy, since childbirth can begin at any time.

What bag to take to the hospital?

Sanitary rules and regulations (SanPiN) prohibit the use of fabric, leather or wicker bags in the maternity hospital as potential sources of the spread of pathogenic bacteria. All necessary items must be packed in plastic bags or bags. For the woman herself, it is convenient if the bag is transparent - it will be easier to find the right thing.

It is unlikely that the staff of the maternity hospital will approve of the large number of packages brought by the pregnant woman to the maternity ward. The division into 3 or 4 bags is conditional, ideally you should have one bag with you.

You can buy ready-made "bags to the hospital", or you can complete the contents yourself and put them in a plastic bag (s).

What documents are needed in the maternity hospital?

The list of documents for the maternity hospital is standard for all residents of Russia; in 2016 it remains the same as the list for 2015.

Documents required in the maternity hospital:

  • the passport;
  • medical insurance policy;
  • an exchange card with the results of tests and ultrasound (otherwise, the woman in labor is sent to the observational department of the maternity hospital as unexamined);
  • birth certificate (if you did not register at the antenatal clinic, it will be issued at the maternity hospital itself);
  • childbirth contract, if you signed one;
  • in case of partner birth - passport, fluorography, tests for the accompanying person.

In addition to documents, the first necessities also include a mobile phone with a charger.

List of things in the hospital: what you need to take for childbirth? (bag 1)

What can I take to the hospital for the birth itself? The list is small. Theoretically, you only need to have washable slippers with you, and everything else should be given out in the rodblok itself. However, each hospital has its own rules, which you should know in advance.

During childbirth, you may also need:

  • a loose T-shirt or nightgown, preferably not new;
  • clean drinking water (at least 1 liter, some even take 5-liter bottles with them);
  • towel and liquid baby soap;
  • disposable toilet seats;
  • warm, but not woolen socks;
  • a camera or video camera (if you plan to capture the joyful moment of the birth of a child; in this case, your birth partner should have them with you).

What to take to eat at the maternity hospital for the birth itself is usually asked by those who are about to give birth for the first time. During the birth process, women in labor are the last to think about food. But if you still intend to take something edible for yourself, then let it be baked or dried fruits, bread or crackers, boiled eggs, broth.

In the same package, put aside things for the newborn, which will be put on him immediately after childbirth:

  • diaper;
  • vest, blouse or bodysuit;
  • sliders;
  • bonnet.

Maternity hospital list for mom: things you need after childbirth (bag 2)

After giving birth, a young mother will have to live in the maternity hospital for several days, so you should take care of all the necessary things in advance: clothes, household items and personal hygiene items.

So, what to take a pregnant woman to the hospital for the postpartum period:

  • Nightgown and bathrobe (although in many maternity hospitals only those issued are allowed to be used);
  • Pads for postpartum discharge. However, doctors sometimes prohibit the use of pads to control blood loss;
  • Soft toilet paper, paper toilet seats;
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste;
  • Towel, comb, mirror;
  • Nail scissors;
  • Soap, shower gel, shampoo, hypoallergenic intimate hygiene product, unscented or low-scented deodorant;
  • Special disposable or cotton underpants (3-5 pieces);
  • Nursing bra (1-2 pieces) and disposable inserts for it;
  • Postpartum bandage (if you plan to wear it);
  • Cream and

    List of things for discharge from the hospital (bag 4)

    Discharge from the hospital is the happiest event, for which, of course, you need to prepare in advance. Most expectant mothers are primarily concerned about clothes for discharge for the baby, and this is understandable: it is important not to overcool or overheat the baby.

    Easiest with "summer" newborns . Their standard set of clothing includes a bonnet, blouse (vest or bodysuit) and sliders. Wrap the baby in a light blanket or put on a light overalls if you have to travel in a car.

    What should I take to the hospital for a baby in winter? The list of things in the maternity hospital in winter is complemented by a warm hat, envelope or transforming overalls. A blanket and ribbon is not the best idea if you have to carry the baby in the car. According to the rules, even a newborn must be transported in a special infant carrier. The blanket does not provide any slots for belts, as you understand. A flannel vest or blouse, sliders and a cap are put on under outerwear.

    What to take a newborn to the hospital in autumn and spring? The off-season is a changeable time, it is easy for a baby to catch a cold. Dress him warmly enough, but do not overdress. During this period, depending on the weather, a demi-season envelope or overalls will do. If the baby was born at the beginning of spring or the end of autumn, you will have to use winter clothes.

    Clothes for a new mom should be comfortable. Don't expect to immediately fit into "pre-pregnancy" jeans. Few people can pull it off - some are surprised to note that the belly is only slightly smaller than during pregnancy. It is preferable to wear a dress or skirt on the day of discharge. The blouse should be loose, because with the advent of milk, the breasts become very large. Do not forget to put outdoor shoes in the discharge bag - stable, flat or with a small heel.

    Photos to remember the day of discharge will remain with you forever, so make sure you have the necessary cosmetics. Foundation is indispensable on this day if your skin is not perfect.

    We hope that our detailed list of necessary things will make your preparations for the hospital easy and joyful. Be sure to find out about the exact rules of a particular maternity hospital - each of them may have its own restrictions.

    Easy childbirth!

In the postpartum department there are 1, 2-bed wards for the mother and the newborn "Mother and Child" (round-the-clock joint stay), all wards are equipped with sanitary rooms with a toilet and a shower. "Free" breastfeeding is actively promoted and supported (feeding the child "on demand", the appointment of supplementary feeding only for medical reasons). Before discharge, all puerperas undergo an ultrasound examination and control of laboratory parameters. Early discharge home is widely practiced - on the 3rd day after physiological delivery and on the 5th day after operative delivery.
