Instruction for the beginner, cheat sheet for the seasoned

Collecting bags in for many becomes a real challenge. What to take? What not to take? Will I be able to collect everything? What if I forget something? Our material will help make the fees easier and more enjoyable: just follow the instructions.

When to start collecting?

Many future mothers begin to pack their "alarm suitcase" almost after they saw the coveted plus sign on the test. And others, on the contrary, put off these exciting chores until the last moment. Let's agree: there is nothing wrong with these camps, on the contrary, these are very pleasant worries that help to tune in to childbirth and meeting with the unborn baby. Even if you forget something, nothing terrible will happen, all vital things are available in the maternity hospital by default, and your relatives will be able to bring everything you need for your personal comfort.

Important! A good time to start preparing for the maternity hospital, provided that you are not indicated for antenatal hospitalization, is 35-36 weeks of pregnancy.

How to pack?

It is most convenient to divide all things into three groups:

  • (It will be brought to you later by relatives).

Accordingly, you will need to collect not one, but three “disturbing suitcases” at once. But you will be sure that everything is in place and you do not have to carry a heavy bag.

Important! All things must be packed only in plastic bags! Most maternity hospitals prohibit cloth or leather bags for hygiene reasons. Tip: take three bags of different colors or make noticeable labels so as not to be confused.

Symbums tell

On the eve of the birth, I packed things in identical bags from the supermarket and folded them in the hallway. So not only did my husband almost take out my “alarm suitcase” along with the garbage, but in the end we mixed up the packages and arrived at the maternity hospital with contractions armed with an embroidered blanket and dress for discharge. Fortunately, we live nearby, my husband quickly went and exchanged them while I was making out.

Readiness No. 1: a package for childbirth

This package is the most important, because it is these things that you will take with you to the birth, where no one from your relatives with a safety package will be allowed to enter.

So, in this package we will put:

  1. Documents: passport, compulsory medical insurance policy, birth certificate, exchange card. If the husband will be present at the birth, then a package of documents is also needed for him: his passport, marriage certificate, fluorography results (it is better to check the list at the maternity hospital);
  2. Rubber slippers- it is convenient to take a shower in them and they are easy to wash - this quality is useful in the postpartum department;
  3. Disposable diapers- it is better to take a large package (15-20 pieces) - they will come in handy during the discharge of water and secretions during childbirth and in the postpartum.
  4. Water without gas- During childbirth, sometimes you really want to drink.
  5. thick socks- it can be chilly in the delivery room.
  6. Toilet paper or wet wipes;
  7. Bathrobe and oversized T-shirt(True, in most maternity hospitals, their own clothes are prohibited - they give out sterile “overalls” of cheerful colors).
  8. Hygienic lipstick.
  9. Additional package in order to put the clothes in which you will arrive at the hospital
  10. Mobile phone and charger for it.

Symbums tell

I never thought that chapped lips could bring me such discomfort during childbirth. In maternity hospitals, the air is always very dry due to constant quartzization, and the intense "breathing" of contractions dries the lips even more. Next time I will definitely bring a lip balm with me.

First days in comfort: "postpartum" package (Second package)

Here you need to put things that mom and baby will need. Only the essentials! Why do you need to drag a heavy package to the hospital? On the first day after childbirth, if you see that you are missing a table lamp or your favorite silver spoon, your loved ones will be happy to bring you everything you need.

Things for mom:

  1. Hygiene items: toothpaste and brush, soap, shampoo, moisturizer, comb, hair clip);
  2. Disposable postpartum panties 5 pcs;
  3. Special postpartum pads or regular softest super absorbent 2 packs;
  4. Postpartum slimming bandage if you plan to wear it
  5. Healing cream or ointment for nipples;
  6. personal utensils: mug, spoon, you can take a small thermos;
  7. Bra for feeding and inserts for him.

Symbums tell

In the postpartum period, I recalled with such gratitude my husband, who “smuggled” stuffed a small thermos into my bag! Milk arrived badly, I always wanted a warm drink. A thermos with tea helped out a lot, especially at night.

Baby items:

  1. baby soap(more convenient liquid with a dispenser) and wet napkins for wiping the priests (both are useful);
  2. Children's cream and powder;
  3. Diapers for newborns (the package should be marked 2-5 kg or "Newborn");
  4. Clothes and diapers: in maternity hospitals they usually give out sterile clean diapers, but you can bring your own if you wish. You can also grab a couple of sets of seasonal clothes: undershirts, sliders or pajamas, a pair of socks, a hat.

We are going home: package for discharge (Third package)

You will not take this package to the hospital- it will be delivered to you before discharge by relatives. And this is an important reason to treat his collection with all responsibility - it would be a shame to be left on the eve of discharge without cosmetics or a ribbon for the baby's envelope.

Baby items:

  1. Pajamas or vest with sliders, hat, socks;
  2. Or diaper: thin and flannel, if you are going to swaddle the baby;
  3. A smart bedspread, blanket or warm envelope- depending on the season.

Things for mom:

  1. Smart and comfortable clothes(best of all - a spacious dress, you will most likely be uncomfortable in jeans), outerwear and shoes;
  2. Cosmetics: To feel more confident and enjoy posing for the first photo with your baby.

Girls, be sure to collect the package for discharge! And then my friend didn’t “get confused” and her husband forgot to bring her ... boots. I had to check out in my grandfather's boots of size 42.

Then you won't lose it!

Childbirth for a future mother is no less important and exciting event than the pregnancy itself. And it doesn’t matter if it’s the first birth or not, the feeling of trembling of some kind of fear will be constant. Starting from week 39, a woman should prepare for the fact that the waters can break at any time and she will have to urgently go to the hospital.

Usually they are admitted to the hospital in advance when there are any indications for hospitalization of pregnant women. Such indications can be considered pathology or deviations in the state of health of the baby or mother. Also during overwearing, which is also not favorable for the baby.

The best option is prenatal hospitalization, which in the last stages will be like a reassurance for mommy. In the polyclinic, a pregnant woman is under the constant supervision of doctors and in case of premature birth, she will always be able to receive first aid. But let's consider everything in order.

It is impossible to accurately determine the day of birth, it all depends on the physiology of the woman and the desire of the baby itself to be born. Therefore, it will not be possible to make plans that it is possible to calmly get together before the date indicated by the doctor and come to the maternity hospital. This is possible only with a planned caesarean section. As you know, starting from the 38th week of pregnancy, any subsequent date can be a happy birthday. Naturally, the attending physician calls a certain date on which the mother should give birth, but this is all very approximate.

Very often there are cases when premature birth occurs and at this moment the woman is completely lost and, of course, does not think about what she needs to collect for the maternity hospital and what documents she needs to take.

It is in such cases that it is better to prepare in advance and collect everything you need. First of all, you need to get a referral for prenatal hospitalization from your doctor. Without such a document, unfortunately, doctors have the right to refuse to stay in the hospital. Usually, pregnant women are laid down in advance, with any contraindications, so that the woman in labor is under the supervision of doctors.

In addition to the direction of the pregnant woman, it will be necessary to take with her a passport, a medical insurance policy, an exchange card, a birth certificate and a contract with the hospital (if any). In addition to the above documents, you must take personal belongings and things for the unborn child.

It is very important to be prepared for future childbirth and in no case should you go on long trips out of town in the last stages. It is necessary to choose in advance the maternity hospital in which they will take birth and it is advisable to visit it in advance. It should be noted that each maternity hospital has its own restrictive requirements that relate to sanitary and hygienic standards. Therefore, it is better to know everything in advance.

Antenatal hospitalization before caesarean occurs 1-2 weeks before the specified date of the birth itself. This is done so that the doctors can carry out all the necessary procedures on the spot and slowly, such as: a blood test, ultrasound, CTG, and at the same time, it is possible to help mom with medication to prepare the body for the upcoming operation. In such cases, doctors try to carry out such an operation as late as possible, bringing it as close as possible to the scheduled date of birth, but in most cases everything happens before contractions begin, since they can significantly harm the health of the baby.

Antenatal hospitalization at 39 weeks is quite appropriate, even if there is no good reason for this. The doctor has no right to refuse this. If the deadlines allow, then it is not necessary to bring all the things to the hospital at once, those that are intended for the baby, they can bring them later, immediately before the birth itself. Do not buy mountains of clothes in advance, as the baby will not need all this. Do not forget about such trifles as a nipple, a bottle and diapers, as these things can always find their use. Regardless of the season, it is necessary to take both warm clothes for the baby, and lighter ones.

A woman in a state of pregnancy is quite unpredictable and no one knows how she will behave before the birth itself.

If a woman tells the whole pregnancy that she will go to the hospital only when the contractions begin, you should not believe her. After all, there comes a moment when the woman in labor begins to panic a little about whether the ambulance will have time to come for her and bring her to the hospital, whether everything will be fine on the way and whether she will give birth in the car. Hospitalization of pregnant women can be carried out at a variety of times and for a variety of circumstances.

Hospitalization does not have to be for medical reasons. It happens that a woman in labor simply lives very far from the chosen maternity hospital, and there is a possibility of not having time to pick her up from home. In order for mommy to once again feel good and not create panic, it is better to follow her lead and take her to the hospital in advance. After all, her excitement is quite understandable, since she worries not only for herself, but first of all for the health of her baby.

Reminder for pregnant women
incoming obstetrics to the hospital
GBUZ MO "Balashikha Maternity Hospital".

1. List of documents required upon admission to the hospital:

    Referral for hospitalization (with planned hospitalization);

  • MHI policy or VHI agreement;

    Birth certificate (issued by the antenatal clinic at the place of observation). In the absence of a birth certificate (for example, in the case of observation of pregnancy in a paid medical center), the maternity hospital independently issues birth certificate coupons to pay for childbirth (remains in the maternity hospital) and to monitor the child in a children's clinic (issued to the puerperal in her arms upon discharge). THE LACK OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE CANNOT BE A REASON FOR REFUSING IN HOSPITALIZATION FOR BIRTH);

    Exchange card, results of analyzes and studies not included in the exchange card (for example, protocols for ultrasound studies, specialist consultations, etc.);

    A copy of the certificate of incapacity for work (maternity leave) issued in the antenatal clinic.

Put it all neatly in a bag or file and carry it with you in your bag, especially if you are planning to go somewhere.

2. The list of personal belongings recommended (at the request of the patient) upon admission of women in labor to the maternity ward:

1. Clothes:

Robe (preferably not with buttons, but on a belt that is easy to open for feeding a child);

Night shirt (2 pcs.);

Shorts, disposable, purchased at the pharmacy.

A bra, preferably especially for nursing mothers, also does not hurt to grab disposable absorbent bra pads (so that leaking milk does not stain underwear);

Slippers, always washable (rubber, leather);

· Cotton socks.

2. Personal hygiene items:

toilet items: toothbrush, paste;

    absorbent diapers (90*60cm, 10 pieces);

towel for hands and body;

Wet wipes.

3. Cutlery for eating and drinking (optional).

4. A bottle of drinking water 1L (during childbirth, you will often feel thirsty).

5. It is desirable to have for a newborn:

cap, socks, 1 diaper.

6. Mobile phone (do not forget to top up the balance on your phone and take a charger with you).

7. Loose-leaf notepad, or even better, sticky note paper, and a pen (you may have to take some notes, and even if you stay in a general ward, food that relatives will definitely bring you, you need will store in the refrigerator, and therefore, everything will need to be attached with notes with the date when the product entered the refrigerator).

3. Items must be packed in new clean plastic bags.

Patients' belongings not included in the list are taken home or handed over to the cloakroom, from where relatives should pick them up.

When a woman in labor is transferred to the maternity unit from the hospital, personal belongings that are not included in the list are given to relatives in advance, or temporarily stored (with an inventory) in the hospital until the next day and given to relatives against signature.

4. The list of things prohibited for bringing into the maternity ward:

It is forbidden to store ladies', travel and shopping bags in the maternity ward!

We have tried to list the basic things that you will need in the maternity hospital, but pay special attention to the fact that for individual medical reasons, you may need additional things, be sure to consult your doctor about this.

Pregnancy is a wonderful time, and very soon you will meet your baby. It is important that by this time everything is ready. If you're 34-36 weeks pregnant, chances are you've already picked out and purchased some items: a crib, stroller, and many other important items you and your baby will need at home.

But before the baby appears in your home, there will be another important stage for which you must be ready - childbirth and postpartum stay in the hospital. It is very important that the first hours and days of your baby and your motherhood pass in comfort and tranquility. It is important that everyone is calm: you and your loved ones. Therefore, you should prepare for this period in advance.

There are many lists of things for the hospital, especially on the Internet, and many of them are completely different. It is advisable to clarify in advance which list of things is recommended in your maternity hospital. It can be found on the website of the maternity hospital (if any) or clarified by phone.

You can use any source of information, but often the lists contain the minimum necessary list of things, and as experience shows, there are things that are worth taking with you, but nothing is written about them.

Our list is perhaps the most complete and has a description of what this or that thing is needed for. So, in short, by the time you give birth, you should be ready

Most likely, the bags to the maternity hospital that you prepare will not be one hundred percent collected (there may not be things that you use daily, such as a comb or slippers.) hanger. Our tip: write little cheat sheets for partially assembled bags and attach them. For example, "for bag number four, report a blue dress (hanging in the closet in the bedroom) and boots." When all the bags are ready, be sure to show them to your loved ones, so it will be easier for them to figure out which bag and when you carry it.

The first bag is for the prenatal unit (you will go to the birth with it). It should contain the following things:

Bag 1: antenatal ward bag

  • The documents:
    • the passport;
    • medical insurance policy (CMI or VHI) (if you make a photocopy of your passport and policy, the staff of the maternity hospital will be very grateful to you);
    • exchange card of a pregnant woman;
    • referral to a maternity hospital (contract with a maternity hospital or a doctor);
    • birth certificate (issued at the antenatal clinic, if not, they will be issued at the maternity hospital after childbirth);
    • insurance certificate of state pension insurance (where SNILS is indicated).
  • Mobile phone and charger (if allowed).
  • Washable slippers. The rules of maternity hospitals prescribe washable slippers. This is justified for hygienic reasons: they are easier to keep clean. Then, in the postpartum ward, you will put on the regular ones, and in these it will be possible to go to the shower.
  • Clothing bags. Upon admission, you will need to change, and your clothes will need to be given to your accompanying loved ones or deposited. It will be very convenient if you have packages in which you put everything.
  • Shoe covers (one or two pairs). When you enter the admissions department, you will need to change your shoes, but you can put on shoe covers. They can also come in handy if someone close to you needs to pass. If they are not useful during admission, give them to your relatives accompanying you. Perhaps they will visit you in the postpartum ward and they will definitely come in handy there.
  • Disposable razor. Many maternity hospitals still require shaving of the perineum. If you do not have time to prepare at home and so that you are not tormented by a hospital razor, take a disposable one.
  • Disposable toilet pads and a pack of wet toilet paper: These are useful after an enema and during childbirth.
  • Disposable paper tissues and wet wipes can be useful in the antenatal unit for personal hygiene.
  • Bottle of still water. They won't let you eat, but you can and should drink. Take a bottle with a sports neck.
  • Compression stockings. Increasingly, doctors are obligatory recommending that pregnant women wear compression stockings for childbirth, or bandage their legs with elastic bandages. Compression stockings are designed to protect the legs and significantly reduce the risk of complications by preventing blood clots from forming in the veins of the legs.
  • If you are going to have a delivery by caesarean section, you MUST have elastic stockings and a postoperative bandage with you.

All these things should be put away in a plastic (washable) bag: they will not let you in with a cosmetic bag or handbag.

Bag 2: bag to the hospital

The second bag is intended for the postpartum department (it will be brought to you after the birth). Now there are two of you, and things from this set to the hospital can be divided into 4 categories. Look at the picture below. Also note that all things must be packed in bags or a special transparent bag for the maternity hospital. Things in a regular bag will refuse to be transferred and your loved ones will have to repack everything in bags.

  • For you (everything for personal hygiene, breast care, cosmetics, personal care and important little things):
    • sanitary pads (it is better to take special urological ones). When changing pads every 3 hours for a standard 3 day hospital stay, you will need approximately 24 pads;
    • panties. It is better to take mesh disposable panties (3-5 pieces);
    • disposable breast pads (3-5 sets), antiseptic nipple cream and postpartum bra;
    • liquid hand soap (preferably antibacterial);
    • for the toilet: toilet paper (choose the softest one), disposable toilet seat covers, and wet toilet paper;
    • solid baby soap;
    • handkerchiefs, hand sanitizer if needed;
    • disposable absorbent diapers (for a procedure such as perineal ventilation);
    • cosmetic bag with everything you need (shampoo, shower gel, cotton pads and cotton buds, cap, cream, comb, toothpaste and brush, hygienic lipstick, antiperspirant);
    • bathrobe and nightgown (if the maternity hospital you have chosen allows you to use your own clothes);
    • towels: one for the face and hands, the other for the body. Disposable paper towels (in rolls) are very convenient;
    • socks;
    • house slippers;
    • garbage bags (there are no trash cans in maternity hospitals, the maternity hospital employees pick up the garbage or mothers take it out themselves);
    • pen and notepad for writing down valuable tips;
    • a cup and disposable tableware (for gifts from your loved ones);
    • disposable mask (for guests);
    • in the bag at the maternity hospital, you can immediately put a cosmetic bag with decorative cosmetics for discharge (on the day of discharge, relatives will bring you a bag 3 and 4, but you will see them only 10 minutes before going to your relatives, this time will only be enough for you to change clothes , otherwise you will have cosmetics with you and you will have time to calmly prepare for discharge);
    • postpartum bandage. The sooner you “grab” the figure, the faster it will return to normal and the tummy will tighten;
    • electric kettle (boiler), if allowed. This device will provide you with boiling water not only for tea, but can also be useful for sterilizing a pacifier;
    • for free minutes - a book or a magazine, or a tablet computer;
    • bed linen and favorite pillow (if allowed).
  • For baby:
    • diapers (25-30 packs are enough for 3-4 days);
    • wet wipes;
    • diaper cream;
    • moisturizing cream or oil (baby's skin dries very much in the early days and needs special care);
    • disposable absorbent diapers (for taking air baths and for examinations by doctors);
    • clothes for the baby (if allowed);
    • a bottle and a pacifier (may not be useful in the hospital, but if you have it with you, it will be calmer).

Clothes for baby and mom

Your doctor came to you and said: “Today you are discharged!”. You call relatives and ask to bring bags 3 and 4. Before you go to a meeting with relatives, you must be given all the documents. Be sure to check the correctness of the documents:

  • Birth certificate (your baby will be registered in the registry office on the basis of this particular certificate).
  • Children's and Mother's part of the exchange card. You will then give the children's part to the children's clinic, and the mother's part to your doctor in the antenatal clinic.
  • Other documents (if any): part of the birth certificate that remains with the woman; a copy of the voluntary medical insurance policy, the concluded contract (agreement) for obstetrics, etc. These documents confirm the fact that you have been provided with medical care and services and may be useful in the future if complications arise.

Bag 3: things for the baby to be discharged

In this bag, put things for the baby to be discharged. You must decide for yourself, in accordance with the season, what your baby will wear. It is better to prepare several options, especially if the discharge time falls in autumn or spring, when it can get colder or, conversely, warmer.

  • Diaper (preferably two).
  • Underwear (bodysuit, blouse and sliders or overalls, thin hat).
  • Suit.
  • The diaper is thin and warm (if you swaddle).
  • Outerwear: an envelope, overalls or a blanket with a corner and a ribbon, a warm hat.
  • car seat. If you are going home by car, be sure to note that, according to the rules of the road, you can transport a child in a car only with the use of special restraints. Therefore, it is worth considering in advance about the infant carrier or car seat.

Bag 4: things to be discharged to mom

When you collect this bag, remember that the stomach and hips will not yet be in perfect condition, if you have gained a lot of extra pounds during pregnancy, then it is better to take loose clothes.

  • Lingerie. Underwear must be worn while in the room. At checkout, you will only wear pantyhose if you are wearing a dress.
  • Corset: If you wear a corset under a dress or blouse, your tummy will not be visible in the photos.
  • Clothing. It's up to you to decide what to wear! It is better to wear a dress, as the pants will not be very comfortable.
  • Outerwear for the season.
  • Shoes. Of course, it is more convenient to wear shoes without heels, but if you want to look your best, you can also wear heels, especially since dad will carry the baby.
  • Cosmetics and jewelry. It is better to put on make-up in advance, even in the ward, and you can put on jewelry already at the discharge.

Things for dad

It should be noted that if you are planning a joint birth with your husband, you need to prepare things for the future dad. To be present at the birth, your spouse must have the following documents on hand:

  • Test results (specify which tests will be required in your maternity hospital and when they need to be taken).
  • The passport.
  • Comfortable clothes and changeable shoes.
  • Sterile set for dad (surgical set for joint delivery).
  • If your spouse stays in the hospital for a joint stay, then he will need personal hygiene items: a towel, shaving accessories, a change of clothes and underwear.

If you will be visiting relatives and a spouse in the postpartum ward, prepare shoe covers and masks.

And most importantly: your loved ones must know how to contact the maternity hospital and your doctor. Therefore, provide them with appropriate contacts in advance.

In order not to run around collecting these bags, you can already purchase (bag 1 and 2): they contain everything you need from the best manufacturers. The packaging of each set is thought out to the smallest detail: it is a transparent, washable bag that is allowed in the maternity hospital (main); two cosmetic bags with handles for mom and baby (inside the bag); a small cosmetic bag with empty bottles and important little things; branded opaque package (the bag is packed in it). The set contains everything for your comfortable childbirth and the postpartum period. Having bought a ready-made bag, you can safely go to the hospital!

Here you can download a list of necessary things that you need to take with you to the hospital, print and mark what else you need to buy. Those things that are already in our sets are marked in the list. List in the hospital.

Easy childbirth and happy motherhood!

You can see what the bag for the maternity hospital consists of in our videos, which we shot especially for you.

The term of childbirth is approaching, and the expectant mother begins to gather in the hospital. It is better to prepare everything you need in advance than not to put something in a hurry, and then get upset. Before the exciting moment comes, let's find out what to take to the hospital in order to feel comfortable there. The list consists of the necessary things and documents. Let's conditionally divide it into three bags: for childbirth, after childbirth and for the baby. The fourth bag, intended for discharge, can be collected, both for admission to the medical institution, and brought by relatives by the time of discharge from it.

It is advisable to put things for the baby in a separate bag or even ask relatives to bring them after childbirth

What is the best bag to put things in?

According to sanitary norms and rules (SanPin), it is forbidden to take bags made of leather, fabric or wicker to the hospital. Such materials can become carriers of germs and viruses. It is advisable to pack things in plastic bags. The bag should also be transparent so as not to delve into it for a long time in search of the right thing. The hypothetical "three bags" cannot be taken literally. The staff of the institution is unlikely to allow you to bring 3-4 trunks.

Stock up on one roomy bag, put all the prepared things into it, breaking them into sectors so that you know where everything is. By the way, you can buy a ready-made bag in the store if you find one that suits you. If you or one of your relatives knows how to sew, make your own version of the "alarm suitcase" for the woman in labor. For some mothers, regular plastic bags with handles are enough.

What documents do you need to take with you?

Being observed by a doctor during the entire period of pregnancy, you have acquired a large number of medical documents and certificates. Some of them should be taken to a medical facility. Starting from week 32, make it a rule for you to carry documents with you - the period set by the doctor may change at the request of your crumbs. If everything goes well, go shopping by week 36, collect a “disturbing suitcase” with things. Put in it the following documents:

  • the passport;
  • an exchange card of a pregnant woman with full information about the course of pregnancy and test results;
  • insurance medical policy giving the right to medical care;
  • if you have an agreement with a medical institution, be sure to put it;
  • receipts for paying for a separate room and for a joint birth, if you decide to use these services.

The exchange card will give the obstetrician all the information about the course of pregnancy, so in the later stages it must be carried with you all the time

By the way, concerning joint childbirth. Documents are needed and your soulmate. Doctors will require a passport and a health certificate from your husband. This is done for the safety of the baby.

Calculate some amount of money that may be needed to buy medicine or pay for some services. Put large and small bills in your wallet. Realizing that the moment of the birth of a new person is an unpredictable thing, be sure to keep a mobile phone in your purse or pocket to quickly call an ambulance and notify your relatives.

What things to prepare for childbirth?

The list of items that will be useful to you during childbirth is small. The maternity hospital's policy is to give birthing women the necessary clothes, but you can take washable slippers. However, each obstetric institution sets its own rules, it is better for you to find out about their existence in advance. In theory, you should collect:

  • nightgown (loose fit);
  • drinking water (1 liter or more if you so desire);
  • towel (maybe two);
  • baby soap (liquid);
  • disposable toilet seats;
  • warm socks (not wool);
  • you can grab a video camera or a camera if you want to save a joyful historical event in the life of your family on them.

Add to the package with your things and equipment for the newborn, which the staff of the institution will put on after the birth. Some institutions use their own baby diapers to swaddle an infant. Find out this question in advance - you may not have to collect an outfit for a newborn, only for discharge. Stock up on the following:

  • vest, bodysuit or blouse;
  • diaper;
  • you can put sliders;
  • bonnet.

Some maternity hospitals provide their own diapers and clothes for the newborn - this issue needs to be clarified in advance

Mothers who are about to give birth for the first time often ask if they can bring food with them. Believe me - giving birth, you will definitely forget about any food. If you want to take something for a snack, you can stock up on dried candied fruits or fruits, cookies, crackers. Boiled eggs and broth will do. Do not overload your "alarm suitcase" so that you cannot lift it.

List of things for mom after childbirth

Having given birth, mother spends about 3-5 days with her little treasure in the maternity hospital. What to collect for this period, what items would be appropriate for a nursing mother? Add some wardrobe items to the list of things. Be sure to put the products that you use for personal hygiene. Stock up on water and foods that you ate before giving birth. If you want to look attractive - grab a cosmetic bag, but be sure to read our additional explanations in a separate review block. We have prepared a list for you.

clothing

  • Clean nightgown, bathrobe, slippers. Choose a model with a cutout for comfortable breastfeeding. Some maternity facilities give out their own clothes, check this in advance. Put two pairs of warm socks if you are giving birth in winter.
  • You need a special bra for breastfeeding, equipped with detachable pockets on the nipples. Such a product will provide you with convenient feeding of the child.
  • If the maternity hospital does not give out underwear, take disposable underpants (cotton, 3-5 pieces) and postpartum pads.
  • You will also need bra pads, which perfectly absorb leaking milk. If you do not take them, all the clothes will be stained, which turn sour and begin to smell bad.
  • Take care of the figure - grab it.

Using a bandage immediately after childbirth will help to quickly restore the figure

Hygiene products

  • The usual daily care kit: toothbrush, shampoo, soap, body care cream, deodorant (roll-on), shower gel (see also:). Disposable toilet seats. Moms whose births ended with stitches can ask someone close to bring them the softest grade of toilet paper.
  • Remedy against. Choose one that does not require rinsing. Cracks appear in many mothers and cause pain during feeding. The cause is improper attachment of the newborn to the breast. Buy Bepanthen or D-Panthenol cream.
  • Glycerin suppositories. Help with stool problems.

Food, cutlery, leisure items

Items that are presented in this section, you can not take with you on the day of admission to the hospital. Any of them can be conveyed to you by relatives when you visit. Cutlery items can be limited to a mug and a teaspoon. You can make notes on your cell phone. We have compiled a list of examples:

The question about drugs is often asked. A maternity hospital is a medical facility where you will be given any remedy for headaches, nausea, or more serious medications, if needed. Moms who know that they are going to have a caesarean section should check the list of necessary medications with the doctors of the maternity hospital or perinatal center.

Additional explanations for important positions

We will answer the questions that inevitably arise among mothers going to the hospital. People often ask about pads, wondering which ones are best for postpartum hygiene. Pharmacies offer special postpartum pads, which may be called postoperative or urological. Made from highly absorbent material. One pack is enough. If you think you can get by with regular "night" pads, take them.

When choosing a dressing gown, find out if the institution provides state-owned sterile wardrobe items. If you can bring your own clothes, choose a light cotton robe with a zipper or a wraparound that will allow you to move freely and ensure comfortable breastfeeding. It is desirable that the product has pockets for various women's little things (hairpin, hairpin, hair band, handkerchief, telephone).

While listing things, we talked about soap. Do not use a lot of detergents. You can take liquid baby soap with you, which is enough for you and the baby.

There is one more nuance and it is connected with the recommendations of doctors. Doctors advise a woman who has given birth to wash her genitals with laundry soap. Please note that the procedure should be superficial. Wash the external seams and the surface of the body with soap, in no case do not use it to wash the interior. Alkali, which is part of laundry soap, negatively affects the vaginal mucosa, especially when it is inflamed or damaged during childbirth.

  • . Product size 0 or 1 (by weight 2-5 or 3-6 kg). A pack of 28 pieces is enough.
  • Soap, of course, is for children. You can take liquid, for solid grab a soap dish.
  • Hygienic products made of cotton wool (discs, sticks with a limiter). It will be needed to clean the ears and nose of the crumbs, to lubricate the umbilical wound.
  • Wet baby wipes or disposable handkerchiefs.
  • . Since you cannot predict the reaction of the baby to the product, take the cream in a small tube.
  • . As a rule, they are issued in maternity hospitals. If you think that you trust your own things more, take 2 of cotton fabric and 2 of flannel (size - 60x90). Financial opportunities allow - buy disposable diapers.
  • Soft towel.

What things to take for discharge from the hospital?

The selection of things for discharge from the hospital depends on the season. Most of all, women are concerned about the equipment of the newborn.

Summer

In the summer, you can get by with a cap, a vest or a light blouse and sliders. Additionally, wrap the baby in a thin blanket or envelope. For a trip in the car, put on a cotton overall for the baby.

Autumn / spring

The joyful event took place in the off-season - navigate with equipment for the baby according to the weather. Pick up a demi-season overalls for the crumbs, wearing warm underwear under it. If discharge occurs at the beginning of winter or spring, use the set of clothes for the cold season, which we described above. The main thing is not to bandage the newborn so that he does not overheat, stick to a reasonable solution.

Winter

Now let's see what you need to take a baby born in winter. Add a warm hat, an insulated envelope or overalls (preferably a transformer) to your summer underwear set. It is better to transport the baby in the car in outerwear, since it is difficult to pass the belts of the baby car seat under the blanket or envelope. Remember - the rules for transporting children in a car require the use of a special car seat. Rompers, a vest and a cap that are worn under outerwear, take flannel ones.

Clothes for mom should be comfortable and appropriate for the weather. It is unlikely that you will be able to easily squeeze yourself into the jeans that you wore before pregnancy. The stomach has not yet gone without a trace and tight clothes will give you discomfort, even if they fit. Choose loose clothing for your own outfit: skirt, dress, cardigan, sundress. Take shoes with a small heel or without it. Let them bring a cosmetic bag from home - you want to be beautiful in memorable photos.

What should not be brought to the hospital?

Remember that your stay in the hospital is limited to 3-5 days. There is no need to gather as if you are going to the sea for a month. Decorative cosmetics is a matter of child safety. Contact with a baby who has just come into this world should be absolutely safe for him. Powder, shadows, lipstick can get on the baby's body and cause allergies. The maximum that you can afford is to lightly tint your eyelashes.

Do not use strong fragrances. The baby should smell the mother's scent, which he recognizes as native and protective. Feeling the natural maternal aroma, the baby sleeps peacefully, eats well, comfortably gets used to the new environment for him. Forget about the pacifier if you plan to breastfeed your baby. The nipple in the hospital is an extra accessory. The baby sucks well at the breast and is quite satisfied.

The trembling excitement before childbirth is familiar to most women. Experiencing and rejoicing at the same time, you are preparing for the greatest sacrament. Practicality is good and you will of course take all the necessary things with you. However, the most important thing that you bring to the hospital is a great love for the one who should be born. We wish you the easiest birth so that your treasure is born healthy and strong.
