The biggest problem for theoretical physicists is how to combine all fundamental interactions (gravitational, electromagnetic, weak and strong) into a single theory. Superstring theory just claims to be the Theory of Everything.

Counting from three to ten

But it turned out that the most convenient number of dimensions needed for this theory to work is as many as ten (nine of which are spatial, and one is temporal)! If there are more or less dimensions, mathematical equations give irrational results that go to infinity - a singularity.

The next stage in the development of superstring theory - M-theory - has already counted eleven dimensions. And another version of it - F-theory - all twelve. And it's not a complication at all. F-theory describes 12-dimensional space with simpler equations than M-theory describes 11-dimensional space.

Of course, theoretical physics is called theoretical for a reason. All her achievements so far exist only on paper. So, to explain why we can only move in three-dimensional space, scientists started talking about how the unfortunate other dimensions had to shrink into compact spheres at the quantum level. To be precise, not into spheres, but into Calabi-Yau spaces. These are such three-dimensional figures, inside of which there is its own world with its own dimension. A two-dimensional projection of similar manifolds looks something like this:

More than 470 million such figurines are known. Which of them corresponds to our reality is currently being calculated. It is not easy to be a theoretical physicist.

Yes, it does seem a bit far-fetched. But perhaps this explains why the quantum world is so different from what we perceive.

Period, period, comma

Start over. Zero dimension is a point. She has no size. There is nowhere to move, no coordinates are needed to indicate the location in such a dimension.

Let's put a second point next to the first one and draw a line through them. Here is the first dimension. A one-dimensional object has a size - length, but no width or depth. Movement within the framework of one-dimensional space is very limited, because the obstacle that has arisen on the way cannot be bypassed. To determine the location on this segment, you need only one coordinate.

Let's put a point next to the segment. To fit both of these objects, we need already a two-dimensional space that has length and width, that is, area, but without depth, that is, volume. The location of any point on this field is determined by two coordinates.

The third dimension arises when we add a third coordinate axis to this system. It is very easy for us, the inhabitants of the three-dimensional universe, to imagine this.

Let's try to imagine how the inhabitants of two-dimensional space see the world. For example, here are these two people:

Each of them will see his friend like this:

And with this layout:

Our heroes will see each other like this:

It is the change in point of view that allows our heroes to judge each other as two-dimensional objects, rather than one-dimensional segments.

And now let's imagine that a certain three-dimensional object moves in the third dimension, which crosses this two-dimensional world. For an outside observer, this movement will be expressed in a change in two-dimensional projections of the object on a plane, like broccoli in an MRI machine:

But for the inhabitant of our Flatland, such a picture is incomprehensible! He can't even imagine her. For him, each of the two-dimensional projections will be seen as a one-dimensional segment with a mysteriously variable length, appearing in an unpredictable place and also unpredictably disappearing. Attempts to calculate the length and place of occurrence of such objects using the laws of physics of two-dimensional space are doomed to failure.

We, the inhabitants of the three-dimensional world, see everything in two dimensions. Only the movement of an object in space allows us to feel its volume. We will also see any multidimensional object as two-dimensional, but it will change in an amazing way depending on our relative position or time with it.

From this point of view, it is interesting to think, for example, about gravity. Everyone has probably seen pictures like this:

It is customary to depict how gravity bends space-time. Curves... where? Exactly not in any of the dimensions familiar to us. And what about quantum tunneling, that is, the ability of a particle to disappear in one place and appear in a completely different one, moreover, behind an obstacle through which, in our realities, it could not penetrate without making a hole in it? What about black holes? But what if all these and other mysteries of modern science are explained by the fact that the geometry of space is not at all the same as we are accustomed to perceive it?

The clock is ticking

Time adds one more coordinate to our Universe. In order for the party to take place, you need to know not only in which bar it will take place, but also the exact time of this event.

Based on our perception, time is not so much a straight line as a ray. That is, it has a starting point, and the movement is carried out only in one direction - from the past to the future. And only the present is real. Neither the past nor the future exist, just as breakfasts and dinners do not exist from the point of view of an office clerk at lunchtime.

But the theory of relativity does not agree with this. From her point of view, time is a valuable dimension. All the events that have existed, exist and will continue to exist are equally real, as real as the sea beach is, no matter where exactly the dreams of the sound of the surf took us by surprise. Our perception is just something like a searchlight that illuminates a certain segment on the time line. Humanity in its fourth dimension looks something like this:

But we see only a projection, a slice of this dimension at each individual moment of time. Yes, yes, like broccoli in an MRI machine.

Until now, all theories have worked with a large number of spatial dimensions, and time has always been the only one. But why does space allow multiple dimensions for space, but only one time? Until scientists can answer this question, the hypothesis of two or more time spaces will seem very attractive to all philosophers and science fiction writers. Yes, and physicists, what is already there. For example, the American astrophysicist Itzhak Bars sees the root of all troubles with the Theory of Everything as the second time dimension, which has been overlooked. As a mental exercise, let's try to imagine a world with two times.

Each dimension exists separately. This is expressed in the fact that if we change the coordinates of an object in one dimension, the coordinates in others can remain unchanged. So, if you move along one time axis that intersects another at a right angle, then at the point of intersection, time around will stop. In practice, it will look something like this:

All Neo had to do was place his one-dimensional time axis perpendicular to the bullets' time axis. A real trifle, agree. In fact, everything is much more complicated.

The exact time in a universe with two time dimensions will be determined by two values. Is it hard to imagine a two-dimensional event? That is, one that is extended simultaneously along two time axes? It is likely that such a world would require time-mapping specialists, just as cartographers map the two-dimensional surface of the globe.

What else distinguishes a two-dimensional space from a one-dimensional one? The ability to bypass an obstacle, for example. This is completely beyond the boundaries of our mind. An inhabitant of a one-dimensional world cannot imagine how it is to turn a corner. And what is this - an angle in time? In addition, in two-dimensional space, you can travel forward, backward, or even diagonally. I have no idea how it is to go diagonally through time. I'm not talking about the fact that time underlies many physical laws, and it is impossible to imagine how the physics of the Universe will change with the advent of another time dimension. But it's so exciting to think about it!

Very large encyclopedia

Other dimensions have not yet been discovered, and exist only in mathematical models. But you can try to imagine them like this.

As we found out earlier, we see a three-dimensional projection of the fourth (temporal) dimension of the Universe. In other words, every moment of the existence of our world is a point (similar to the zero dimension) in the time interval from the Big Bang to the End of the World.

Those of you who have read about time travel know how important the curvature of the space-time continuum is. This is the fifth dimension - it is in it that the four-dimensional space-time “bends” in order to bring two points on this straight line closer together. Without this, the journey between these points would be too long, or even impossible. Roughly speaking, the fifth dimension is similar to the second - it moves the "one-dimensional" line of space-time to the "two-dimensional" plane with all the consequences in the form of the ability to turn the corner.

A little earlier, our especially philosophically minded readers probably thought about the possibility of free will in conditions where the future already exists, but is not yet known. Science answers this question like this: probabilities. The future is not a stick, but a whole broom of possible scenarios. Which of them will come true - we'll find out when we get there.

Each of the probabilities exists as a "one-dimensional" segment on the "plane" of the fifth dimension. What is the fastest way to jump from one segment to another? That's right - bend this plane like a sheet of paper. Where to bend? And again, correctly - in the sixth dimension, which gives the whole complex structure "volume". And, thus, makes it, like three-dimensional space, "finished", a new point.

The seventh dimension is a new straight line, which consists of six-dimensional "points". What is any other point on this line? The whole infinite set of options for the development of events in another universe, formed not as a result of the Big Bang, but in other conditions, and acting according to other laws. That is, the seventh dimension is beads from parallel worlds. The eighth dimension collects these "straight lines" into one "plane". And the ninth can be compared to a book that contains all the "sheets" of the eighth dimension. It is the totality of all histories of all universes with all laws of physics and all initial conditions. Point again.

Here we hit the limit. To imagine the tenth dimension, we need a straight line. And what could be another point on this straight line, if the ninth dimension already covers everything that can be imagined, and even what cannot be imagined? It turns out that the ninth dimension is not another starting point, but the final one - for our imagination, in any case.

String theory claims that it is in the tenth dimension that strings, the basic particles that make up everything, make their vibrations. If the tenth dimension contains all universes and all possibilities, then strings exist everywhere and all the time. I mean, every string exists in our universe, and every other. At any point in time. Straightaway. Cool, yeah? published

Answer from Jalu[guru]
remember the 3rd ninth kingdom for example. There are many dimensions of time and space. astronauts in space already measure differently. And what does it say about further, in order to understand you need to develop, but everything exists and there is a lot

Answer from Paul Bondarovski[guru]
The first dimension is a straight line. The second dimension is a plane formed by two lines (x, y) perpendicular to each other. The third dimension is the volume formed by three lines (x, y, z) perpendicular to each other. We live in this dimension and, unfortunately, we can only perceive it, since we are not even able to imagine four lines perpendicular to each other (this is impossible in our dimension).
Measurements are often referred to as "density", referring to vibration frequency ranges, but this is a much more complex topic.
Find the book by P. D. Uspensky "Tertium organum" (1911) on the net, he explains these complex things in a very simple and even fascinating way. (See download link below ;)))

Answer from Ulvein[guru]
Four. Everyone always forgets about the fourth dimension - time.

Answer from Doctor[guru]
Measurement is a process :)
Let's say you take a person - and measure his height :)
And it can perceive only three dimensions - length, height and width. This is our world :)
But in string theory there are 11 dimensions.

Answer from inho[guru]
A dimension is a linear representation of something, as a result of which our Moscow can measure), usually it is like infinity, which in fact is very limited by just one of some signs.
For example, the width, although infinite, is limited to only one direction. Like height and length.
When the three of them mate, it seems like a three-dimensional space is obtained, and a new characteristic appears - volume. Which, in principle, also adds up to one dimension, but is still limited - for example, by time.
And time generally exists only because we have memory.
Here memory is our third dimension. And with our eyes, in reality, we always see a two-dimensional picture, and we do not perceive the volumes directly) and that. . memory, that is, the sense of time, is simply an inferior perception of the third dimension. We seem to know that it exists, but at the same time we live in three-dimensional space only as a plane ...

Answer from White_Dragon[guru]
The dimension is length. A line, expressed by the number of degrees of freedom of movement, has one dimension, a plane has two, and physical space has three. Our world exists in a four-dimensional space-time continuum, where three dimensions are spatial and the fourth is time. Each world exists in its own space-time continuum, which has a different number of dimensions. The larger dimensions the world exists, the more order it has and the higher the Level it occupies, the higher the degree of development of matter.

Answer from Ekaterina Aksenova[guru]
A person lives in a three-dimensional world...and visits the 4th dimension in a dream...

Answer from Denis Svetlov[master]
"The fourth dimension is the ability to see through and around an object,
and the fifth dimension is the ability to use, for example, the eye to get in touch with all the other eyes in the solar system.
Vision in the sixth dimension can be defined as the ability, having taken a pebble on the seashore, to harmonize with its help with the whole planet.
In the fifth dimension, where we looked at the eye, we were limited to a certain type of manifestation, while in the sixth dimension, where we took the pebble, we are in contact with the entire planet. "

Answer from stepanych[guru]
As far as I know, a person can see seven or eight dimensions, and then not every person, but rarely anyone.

Answer from Yovetlana Alekseeva[guru]
depending on what kind of person. Usually 5 can be perceived, there are 22 in total.

Answer from N.O.R.M.[guru]
Only 8 measurements!

Answer from Elizabeth Bogdanova[newbie]
Measurement - a set of operations to determine the ratio of one (measured) value to another homogeneous value, accepted by all participants as a unit stored in a technical tool (measuring tool). The resulting value is called the numerical value of the measured quantity, the numerical value, together with the designation of the unit used, is called the value of the physical quantity. The measurement of a physical quantity is experimentally carried out using various measuring instruments - measures, measuring instruments, measuring transducers, systems, installations, etc. The measurement of a physical quantity includes several stages: 1) comparison of the measured quantity with a unit; 2) transformation into a form convenient for use (various ways of indication).
The principle of measurement is a physical phenomenon or effect underlying the measurement.
Measurement method - a technique or a set of methods for comparing a measured physical quantity with its unit in accordance with the implemented measurement principle. The measurement method is usually determined by the design of measuring instruments.
A characteristic of measurement accuracy is its error or uncertainty. Measurement examples:
1. In the simplest case, by applying a ruler with divisions to any part, in fact, its size is compared with the unit stored by the ruler, and, after counting, the value of the value (length, height, thickness and other parameters of the part) is obtained.
2. With the help of a measuring device, the size of the value converted into the movement of the pointer is compared with the unit stored by the scale of this device, and a reading is taken.
In cases where it is impossible to perform a measurement (a quantity is not distinguished as a physical one, or the unit of measurement of this quantity is not defined), it is practiced to evaluate such quantities according to conditional scales, for example, the Richter scale of earthquake intensity, the Mohs scale - the scale of hardness of minerals.
A special case of measurement is comparison without specifying quantitative characteristics.
The science, the subject of which is all aspects of measurement, is called metrology.

1. All specialists in the energies of the Earth unanimously agreed that in September there was a real transition of the Earth and humanity into the sixth dimension. What does this mean? Let's start with the measurements themselves, the key characteristics of which (qualitative) will be outlined below.
The third dimension is characterized by a state of universal duality, which is expressed theoretically (“good-evil” in ethics; “beautiful - ugly” in aesthetics; “struggle of opposites” in philosophy; “conflict” in sociology, etc., etc.).
The fourth dimension is characterized by the transfer of attention to emotions, their quality, their appeasement, their harmonization. The gap between the "production" of emotion and its result is sharply reduced.
The fifth dimension is based on the acceptance of various types of energies, here the main one is the Agape position, the position of equal perception of even significant differences between people. This is a time of sharp action of value judgments, instantly returning with their fullness to their authors.
The sixth dimension is the dimension of effective thought, positive thought forms, the rhythm of a mental text. The volume of speech decreases, the quality of thinking improves. Thought acts almost instantaneously, there are practically no gaps between the production of thought and its embodiment.
The highest efficiency is achieved by loving thinking.

2. What do we have for today? The culture of the third dimension, imprinted in the mental programs of our lives. The entire world infrastructure, with a few exceptions, is designed to serve this particular mental program.
At the same time, we are witnessing the growing insufficiency of this program, which has entered the final crisis of its existence. Feverish attempts to give it impulses for further existence are clearly not successful.
And then everything grows simultaneously in a series of very fast events, when someone tries to create an increased emotional background, but he does not want to be created. When others draw images of enemies from almost nothing, and these images hang in powerlessness, because those who create these images are weakened first of all. And a positive idea began to work very effectively, literally before our very eyes, creating more and more attractive and more and more involved significant groups of the population, literally fashioning new elite groups out of nothing.
It is impossible not to notice this, as scenarios of the next apocalypses crumble before our eyes one after another.
And in this one can see the firm and loving hand of the Prime Creator and his team, with their harmonizing influences returning the Earth to its intended path of a creative laboratory and a universal university.
The events of the past four years unequivocally testify to this.

3. The gradual mastering of the frequencies of the sixth dimension, and this will take up to three years, means a very powerful acceleration of the events of the Earth and on the Earth. We can say that by orders of magnitude every month. Exactly.
And the main events will take place in the field of thinking. Freed from all sorts of shackles, thought has already rushed to actively explore the world and its own inductors. Hence the many illogicalities of the last days and weeks.
The brain - a "transformer", designed for an "input voltage" of "220 volts", suddenly switches to "380 volts". Wiring and windings begin to spark, including literally. The hitherto solid ground actually becomes like the deck of a not-so-modern ocean-going ship caught in a violent storm.
Few people in these conditions manage to maintain the stability and stability of behavior and actions. But there are, and they are becoming more noticeable.

4. The main condition for the success of life, its harmonious effectiveness on Earth, has become a positively built thought. Let us formulate, as far as it is possible today, some of its signs. Options:

* Firstly, this is an energy message about the perfection of everything that happens, observed, felt. This is not a justification of everything and everyone, but a real perception of being in perfection of absolutely everything that happens.
Actually, it was like that before. But the acquisition of conflict experience, the experience of conflict, included, among other things, verification by evaluative-polar judgments: “What will happen if I perceive it this way?”
This experience was more than enough to return to the point of view: “Where is the moment of perfection here?”

* Secondly, perfection entails building a worldview as filled with Love. And Love in the sense that is the secret of harmonization. An ever-recreating matrix of harmonization that forms any energies that become just energies in its fields.
There are no intentions in Love, but there is freedom of creativity and creation in the streams of its secret. Love cannot be commanded. You can only surrender to love, enjoying every moment of being in resonance with it, creating you and all circumstances in the most harmonious way.

* Thirdly, the time has come for a universal understanding that only we ourselves create the circumstances of our life, every event of our life. Only in some this process is chaotized, while in others it is cultivated. And the latter know what to think about, how to think, how to correct what is not very well thought out, etc.

* Fourthly, the sixth dimension returns us to a space where there are no restrictions, where freedom beyond any limits is one of the main cornerstone values. And at the same time it is freedom for the sake of freeing others. For the sake of more effective cooperation with others, which in these conditions can be based only on general agreement, only on consensus.

5 . The frequencies of the sixth dimension went to Earth. And the Earth immediately stirred, because these frequencies could not but change everything current. And the most important thing is developing in and around humanity, which masters these forms of being with all the baggage of the past. And this baggage is either comprehended (rethought) positively - through the understanding of the lessons with their points of perfection, or drags its owner into further adventures of a divided consciousness. Or or. And there is no other.
And here we simply need techniques that allow step by step to rethink those events that cause, let's say, the historical tension of memory.
It is useful to make a list of such topics.
Next, choose the most intense and try to understand what lesson life has taught. What did she teach. It could be meditation. This may be the use of the possibilities of sleep (order the idea of this lesson in the half-asleep of the evening - in this case it will definitely manifest itself either as the content of a dream or a morning thought).
Usually the achievement of understanding will be accompanied by a well-felt relaxation. As the people say: "It's like a mountain has been lifted off my shoulders."
And so, point by point, until the entire list is exhausted.

6. The sensations of the sixth dimension are associated with:
(1) Pain in the body, as the cells of the body are moving to a new mode of nutrition, a new energy mode;
(2) Increased drowsiness, because a person most often does not know how to use the possibilities of the sixth dimension.
(3) Changes in the composition of habitual nutrition in the direction of reducing the proportion of so-called "heavy" proteins;
(4) Local neuralgic pains, most often in the head region (there are many reasons - one of them is the opening, development of the glands).
(5) Sharp changes in working capacity from complete impotence to previously incredible volumes of physical or intellectual work performed.
(6) A change in the configuration of social networks, when previously seemingly unshakable contacts are almost suddenly broken, and new ones appear just as quickly, perceived as much more friendly.
(7) Variations or ultra-stability (comfort) of local weather. And etc., etc.

7. The sixth dimension has one very important feature, one might say the foundation. And his name is Love. Love is like a feeling. Love is the main emotion. Love as a harmonizing boundless force.
Technically - with exercises - you can't organize it. We must let Love organize itself. This is the only way to access it: to surrender to the waves of Love and in them to freely swim through the oceans of life, through its beautiful islands and continents, planets and stars.

eight . The awakening of Love gives rise to an acute need for communication with such awakened ones. And it is better to satisfy this craving, because only continuous interaction ultimately leads to complete self-sufficiency in Love, when Love completely embraces corporality, builds corporality, exists as corporality.

9 . The ringing of bells can be joyful, or it can be sad. "What are the bells tolling about?"

ten . The art of living is a key skill in the sixth dimension. Much becomes not technological, but spontaneously festive.

In recent years, it has become very fashionable to talk about the imminent demise of such an old genre as Adventure, adventure. And each quest that is being prepared for release declares itself as the savior of the genre, capable of again drawing the attention of tired players to the world of eternal riddles and puzzles. Of course, none of them managed to save anyone. And, rather, for the reason that quest as a class was not going to leave us. It's just that over time, players' priorities change, and the industry sets new standards. Adventure never disappear. They are evolving. Sprites are replaced by volumetric graphics and support for accelerators, the view from the side is replaced by the action “from the eyes”, the eternal manipulation with objects is replaced by a simple conversation. And now we have one more proof of Darwin's theory of the origin of species, a story about how far that very evolution could have gone.

From the very beginning, "The Sixth Dimension" attracted attention primarily due to its unusualness. Still, such an extraordinary plot and embodiment! Perhaps few projects have given the player the opportunity to "take control" of a bee in a fully 3D world. In addition, the authors stated that all stereotypes of the genre would be completely eradicated in their creation, that the game would be the first voluminous “flying adventure”, that it would be equally interesting for both adults and children, which would eventually become the first Russian product , originally created with support for 3D accelerators. Well, The Sixth Dimension is already on sale, and we just have to agree with these statements. And, if not with all, then certainly with the majority.

bee lore

I mean, The Tale of the Bee. More precisely, not about a bee, but about the main character, the girl Daria, turned into a bee. More precisely, not a legend. Briefly speaking. The story is simple and unpretentious - there is an evil sorcerer, there is an overly inquisitive heroine, there is a small and self-sufficient world with its problems and shortcomings, and, of course, there is a player who wants to help Daria regain her original appearance. And here, first of all, the game concept is interesting. Still, the first-person view is still very rare in adventure games, and the choice of a bee as a character simply puts the "Sixth Dimension" aside from all standard "adventure", completely removing the question of borrowing an idea. And the biggest bonus is perhaps the freedom of movement, albeit limited to three rooms and an attic, but otherwise absolutely complete. When I first launched the game, I just flew around for about 15 minutes, doing nothing and enjoying the realization of the flight. In the beginning, the surrounding reality seems completely lifeless. For some time, the player, accustomed to considering everything from the perspective of a person, simply does not notice how many other characters live around. This is really a world, albeit a very small one, but a world with its inhabitants and problems, its heroes and traitors, with good and evil, finally. Of course, the game does not pretend to be a thriller. "The Sixth Dimension" is a typical fairy tale, a story that will be of interest to both adults and children.

third dimension

As noted above, the game is fully three-dimensional. And this adds at least two new problems to developers: firstly, the difficulty of creating a really good “engine”, and secondly, additional design difficulties. By and large, Nikita's programmers and artists have more or less coped with these tasks. Of course, the engine causes criticism, but, unfortunately, nothing better among Russian developments has yet come out. Objects cannot boast of an excessive number of polygons, interactivity is at zero, surrounding objects are sorely lacking. Although, it cannot be called ugly and miserable, rather, on the contrary. I don’t know, but there is something sweet and dear in these models, obviously not spoiled with high-quality textures, which allows the graphics to still remain cute and pleasant. In addition, the visual part of the "Sixth Dimension" boasts such bonuses as simulated bee vision (thank God that it can be turned off) and a stereo image effect, for which even red and blue glasses are included in the box! True, in the version for the 3D accelerator, all of the above charms are absent. Although, this should not upset you. Of course, the stereo mode is great, but, firstly, 320x200 (and only in this resolution you can use it) is no longer good, and secondly, there are too many small details in the game that are simply hard to notice. What can you do, here, according to the plot, all the main characters are microscopic. And, besides, everything looks very psychedelic in glasses - I don’t recommend anyone to play at night and with the lights off.

A few words about "accompanying". Screensavers are quite average, but this is a problem, in principle, for all Russian developers, which, by the way, is very strange - you should have seen the video made by the guys from St. Petersburg for the new Civilization: Call to Power from Activision! True, the games have a different budget there, it’s not a problem to spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars on 30 minutes of animated inserts ... But the “voice” voice acting in The Sixth Dimension is clearly up to par, each character speaks in his own manner and with an appropriate accent, fitting perfectly in the midst of a fairy tale. What can not be said about the sounds and background music. The first are practically absent, and the second would be better if it were not at all. Of course, the compositions change depending on the task and place, but most of them are so intrusive that you just want to turn off the sound. Fortunately, after moving the music volume slider to a minimum, they stop being so annoying, and in some places even create a kind of atmosphere.

Now let's smoothly move on to the second question - were the authors able to fully realize their idea, to realize all the possibilities of a new element - free flight? I would say quite. If not fully implemented, then at least not far from the goal. The effect is really very good - after 5 minutes of endless flying and crawling upside down, even an experienced Descent fan can easily feel dizzy. Trust me, "piloting" a bee is nothing like flying an atmospheric fighter. And here our peculiarities of perception of the surrounding world affect - in some places everything looks more than strange. When I first flew into the bottle, I spent a long time meaninglessly hitting the walls, trying to find a way out. This is probably how insects feel when they cannot find a way out of a glass trap, and we stand nearby and lament their “stupidity” - well, how can you not see the open neck? So in the game it can be difficult to get out of a seemingly simple situation. Here, of course, the constant "gluing" of the heroine to absolutely any surface interferes, instantly disorienting the player - you have to go around all the corners at a sufficient distance.

The second distinctive feature of the new concept will be, perhaps, the complete absence of such a familiar Inventory adventure. Yes, gentlemen, we have before us a representative of a very rare genre of "conversational" quests, with all the ensuing consequences. But its difficulty is not just in choosing the necessary phrase (there are no problems with this), but in finding the one to whom it needs to be said. Moreover, to find in the literal sense - as a rule, you know or guess who can help you, only this “someone” always strives to disappear somewhere. True, in some places the tasks themselves are somewhat senile, but what do you want, this is a fairy tale, everything here is by no means obliged to follow the laws of logic. And the riddles themselves are not so complicated, the passage of the game is within the power of a seven-year-old child who can read. In principle, the toy is designed so that everyone can complete it. This is facilitated by a very wisely made hint system, for its implementation - a special thanks to everyone from Nikita. Everything is very simple and depends on whether you want to think for yourself, or let the authors "lead" you to the final. It is enough to choose the level of difficulty, and you will either be thrown one on one with the game, or you will receive almost a complete passage. Moreover, the next advice will come only after a certain period of time, forcing the player, albeit a little, but still think about what is happening. This, and the fact that the quest itself is not that big, makes the game accessible to anyone. That's what democracy means!

Of course, not without obvious punctures in the design. Some things are just annoying - well, why did the authors create this terrible maze? Not only are such puzzles a constant attribute of classic quests so disliked by Nikita, but also the textures on the walls look so miserable that you want to start and just enjoy the Windows screensaver “Labyrinth” - they are chosen much better there, by God! What more can be said? Well, there are no such basements, even if it is in the house of an evil sorcerer!

But still, the game is still a game. Let it be a little "childish" and "fake". But most of all, the developers, despite all the difficulties, have not lost their sense of humor. In principle, this is far from a humorous quest, rather, on the contrary. But there are many small “jokes” like inscriptions on toilet paper and a box of matches, a firefly whose remarks intersect with the statements of the President, an alcoholic cockroach, ants refusing to oppose NATO expansion to the East due to lack of funding, ethyl alcohol formulas on a table with flasks and alchemical devices, etc. moments make the game much cuter and funnier. And the emphasized "childishness" of what is happening in places even plays into the hands of the "Sixth Dimension" - there are much fewer reasons for nit-picking.

Since the game, if desired (at the easiest difficulty level), can be completed in one evening, it makes no sense to give a complete walkthrough. Here are some tips, please.

So, the first piece of advice - in order not to "kill" all the interest, play without anyone's advice (this applies to any quest).

If you are too lazy to think for yourself, wait for the third hint for each problem - it is always the most complete and in most cases simply explains what exactly needs to be done.

Try to save after every action you take.

The best way to control is with the mouse.

If you smell honey, then before it's too late, turn sharply to the side.

The ammonia helps to avoid this smell while you go inside.

If you can't find something, always look through all the nooks and crannies like corners and back walls.

You can fly into almost all cabinets and bedside tables.

When you seem to be completely stuck, and it is not clear from the hint what to do, talk to Polywing.

You can fly into the clock when they start to beat.

The second time, Zorka can be found in the buffet.

In order not to engage in unnecessary searches, always remember which slots you flew into.

There are different types of dust and they sneeze in different ways.

And finally, draw a map of the maze after all, it helps a lot.

When someone mentions “other dimensions” out loud, we start thinking about all kinds of - alternative realities that exist parallel to ours, but in which everything works or happens differently. However, the reality of measurements and the role they play in our ordering of the universe differs greatly from this popular explanation.

In simple words, dimensions are different facets of what we perceive under reality. We are most familiar with the three dimensions that surround us on a daily basis - those that determine the length, width and depth of all objects in our Universes (X, Y and Z axes, respectively).

In addition to these three visible dimensions, scientists assume the existence of others. The theoretical foundations of superstring theory say that it exists in ten different dimensions. These various aspects define the Universe, the fundamental forces of nature and all the elementary particles in it.

First dimension, as we noted, gives length (it's the X axis). A good description of a one-dimensional object is a straight line that exists only in terms of length and has no other notable qualities. Add to this second dimension, y-axis, or height, and get an object that has become two-dimensional (for example, a square). third dimension includes depth (Z-axis) and gives all objects volume. An ideal example is a cube, which exists in three dimensions and has length, width, depth, and hence volume. In addition to these three, there are seven other dimensions that are not immediately apparent to us, but can still be perceived as having a direct effect on the universe and reality as we know it.

Scientists believe that fourth dimension is the time that determines the properties of all known substances at any given point. Along with the other three dimensions, knowing the position of objects in time is essential for determining position in the universe. Other dimensions are hidden much deeper, and their explanation is sometimes difficult to understand even for physicists.

According to superstring theory, fifth and sixth dimensions arise in the same place as the concept of possible worlds. If we could see in the fifth dimension, we would notice that that world is slightly different from ours, and we would have mechanisms for measuring the similarities and differences between our world and another possible one.

In the sixth dimension, we would see a plane of possible worlds, on which we could compare and arrange all possible Universes that began with the same initial conditions as ours (that is, from the Big Bang). In theory, if you could master the fifth and sixth dimensions, you could travel back in time or choose a different future.

In the seventh dimension you have access to possible worlds that started with different initial conditions. If in the fifth and sixth the initial conditions were the same and only the subsequent actions were different, here everything will be different from the very beginning of time. eighth dimension again gives us a plane of all possible histories of the universe, each of which starts with different initial conditions and branches out indefinitely (they are called infinities, obviously).

In the ninth In a dimension, we can compare all possible histories of the universe, starting with all possible laws of physics and initial conditions. tenth and the last dimension, we come to a point where we can cover everything possible and imaginable. Beyond these limits, we mere mortals cannot imagine anything, it is a natural limitation of what we can comprehend in terms of dimensions.

The existence of these extra six dimensions, which we cannot perceive, is necessary for string theory to be a candidate for a fundamental explanation of the interactions in nature. The fact that we can only perceive four dimensions of space can be explained by one of two mechanisms: either the extra dimensions are compact and on the smallest scales, or our world lives in a three-dimensional submanifold corresponding to a brane, to which all known particles except gravity will be limited ( brane theory).

If the extra dimensions are compact, then the extra six dimensions should be in the form of a Calabi-Yau manifold (pictured above). Being invisible to our senses, they could determine the formation of the universe from the very beginning. Therefore, scientists believe that by peering and detecting the light of the early Universe with telescopes (which was emitted billions of years ago), they could see how the existence of these extra dimensions could affect the evolution of the cosmos.

Like other candidates for a grand unified theory - a "theory of everything" - the assumption that the universe consists of ten dimensions (or more, depending on the model of string theory that you take as a basis), is an attempt to reconcile particle physics with the existence of gravity . In short, it is an attempt to explain how all known forces in our universe interact and how other possible universes might work.
