Mittens are a simple product, so a video on how to crochet mittens is suitable for any level of craftsmen - for beginners, and for experienced knitters. Several workshops are offered, and you can choose the type of mittens that you like, and then master other methods.

Crocheting mittens for beginners is a good workout. Products are small, the result is immediately visible, the error can be corrected. And most importantly, everything is shown in detail on the video: even if you took up the crochet hook for the first time, you will easily understand everything and do not confuse anything. And soon you will dress your whole family in brand new mittens.

p.s In the last article we looked at how to knit mittens with knitting needles

Each video lesson provides step-by-step instructions on how to knit mittens:

Used yarn Yarn Art Angora de Luxe. It contains 70% mohair and 30% acrylic. 100 grams of yarn contains 520 meters of thread. The hook was used with a diameter of 2.5 mm, since the thread is still thin. When choosing yarn, do not take too thick: with a thread length of 100 grams less than 200 meters, the product will look somewhat rough.

It is necessary to measure the length of the palm with part of the wrist to determine how many loops you have to dial. 63 loops are dialed, after which we knit mittens with a crochet - with half-columns the entire mitten except for the finger.

Video lesson:

Used yarn Alize baby wool, which consists of 40% wool, 20% bamboo and 20% acrylic, 50 g of yarn accounts for 175 meters of thread. A 3.5 mm hook was used, the yarn was taken in two colors, gray and yellow. A ring is knitted around which double crochets are formed. There are 11 in total. Next, the color of the thread changes, and the number of columns doubles.

Columns are knitted with one crochet and next to it is a embossed front column. In the second row, 24 loops are obtained. On the third row, the color changes back to the original. In the same way, knitting continues with an increase in the number of loops.

Video lesson:

A detailed description is given of how to knit mittens from two threads of different colors. Both threads are knitted at the same time. A hook with a diameter of 5.5 mm was used. To begin with, we determine the length of the cuff, which can be estimated on the arm. We knit a chain of air loops for the length of the future cuff. It turns out 9 loops.

Next, on each loop we knit simple single crochets. Next, the same single crochet is knitted, but they cling only to the back thread to make an elastic band. Work the remaining rows of rib in the same way until you have a cuff large enough to wrap around your arm.

Video lesson:

The mitten is knitted step by step: first the front side, then the wrong side, then the finger and the elastic. Used yarn Alize Baby Wool, consisting of a mixture of natural wool 40%, acrylic 40% and bamboo 20%. There are 175 meters of thread per 50 grams of yarn. The mitten is designed for a medium hand.

From a skein of yarn, it is preferable to work not with the outer thread, but with the one that is inside the skein. Then the thread comes out easily, and the skein does not roll. A chain of 40 palm-length air loops is dialed. Then the double crochets are knitted, in the latter an increase is made.

Video lesson:

Used two threads of angora and wool. Work begins with four air loops that are connected into a ring. Next, after lifting one air loop, we knit 7 single crochets around the ring. Then again rise to one air loop, and two single crochets are knitted for each loop.

This row will have 16 stitches. The next row begins with a column, two columns fit into the next loop and then one column for each loop. The most difficult is to knit a finger on a mitten, but this is also described in detail.

Video lesson:

I used 6 mm yarn and a hook of the same diameter. Knitting is the formation of an even cylinder. First, air loops are recruited in such a quantity that they can cover the wrist. In this case, it is 20 loops. The chain is assembled into a ring with a connecting loop.

Having risen up two air loops, we knit double crochets in a circle. When the row is finished, we climb one air loop, make a single crochet and continue to knit the next row with double crochets. A total of 8 laps were made.

Video lesson:

Used yarn of two colors produced by Pekhorka under the name "Australian Merino", consisting of pure wool, in which there are 400 meters of thread per 100 grams. The hook is used with a diameter of 3.% mm. We make a ring from a gray thread and make three lifting air loops, after which we knit 11 double crochets.

After tightening the ring, we continue knitting with white thread. After two lifting air loops, we begin to knit embossed front double crochets. This row has 24 stitches. The third row is knitted like the second, only with a gray thread.

Video lesson:

Used turquoise acrylic yarn, which went 50 grams. The hook was used No. 2. First of all, a chain of 40-50 air loops is dialed. The exact size is determined by the girth of the baby's wrist. Then they are connected into a ring, three lifting air loops are made, and the first row is knitted with double crochets.

Next, two lifting loops, and we begin to knit a 1x1 elastic band with relief columns, front and back, in turn tying to the front and back loom. On the next row, the operations are repeated until a 3-centimeter elastic band is knitted. Separately, patterns are knitted with beads for decoration.

Video lesson:

Instruction for beginners. Used thin cotton yarn in two threads crochet No. 2. After the first loop, 7 air loops are dialed. One loop is added and single crochets are knitted over the back thread of the base loop. The subsequent rows are knitted in the same way as the second. In total, you need to make 25 rows.

The resulting strip is connected into a ring. It turns out an elastic band for mittens. Next, three single crochets are knitted into two rows. The number of loops will increase by a third. Further knitting continues in a circle.

Video lesson:

A chain of thirty air loops is knitted. They are connected into a ring, after which an air lifting loop is made, and a single crochet is knitted, then an air loop is knitted again, two are skipped and a crochet is made in the third, a double crochet is knitted, then another one in the same loop, then an air loop and again two double crochet.

Again, two loops are skipped, and an air loop and a single crochet are knitted into the third. The resulting fan pattern is repeated - two loops are skipped, and an air loop and two double crochets are knitted into the third. The pattern repeats.

I am glad to welcome you, dear readers! Today, let's take a look at how to crochet mittens.

Recently, I came up with the idea of these mittens. Apparently, winter frosts inspired me) Well, minus 45 is not a joke ..

In general, I knitted mittens, they already warm me) And I will share with you a detailed description of how I did it.

How to crochet mittens. Master class for beginners.

In general, there are several ways to crochet mittens. In this master class, we will knit mittens in a circle.

For knitting mittens we need:

  1. Yarn. Wool or mixed thread - you decide. I knitted from half wool.
  2. Hook. Choose the hook number that suits the thickness of the thread. You can see an example. To knit an elastic band, take a hook one number less than the main one. I knitted a mitten with a crochet No. 3.5, and an elastic band with a crochet No. 2.5
  3. Four markers (or ordinary paper clips, you can thread a different color - what is at hand)
  4. Scissors.

We knit an elastic band:

The cuff of the mitten, which we will knit with an elastic band, will be made with a lapel. Therefore, the gum must be knitted more authentically.

We will knit in rotary rows with single crochets for the back half loop.

We collect a chain of 25 air loops + 1 lifting loop-26 loops.

If you want cuffs without a lapel, just dial 15 loops.

We knit the first row with ordinary single crochets.

From the second row we will capture only the back half of the loop as in the photo. We make 1 lifting loop, turn the knitting and knit single crochets for the back half of the loop:

So we knit about 36 rows. Try it on to know for sure. If the hand is large, then more may be needed.

Now we will connect the edges of the elastic band with. We introduce the hook, grabbing the back half-loop of one and the second edge of the elastic band and we immediately knit these 2 loops and the loop on the hook together:

We knit the main part.

Now I'll show you how to crochet mittens from an elastic band. We will do this in a circle.

We will knit from the wrong side of the gum, because there will be a lapel.

We unfold the elastic with the seam out and knit in a circle without lifting loops ordinary single crochets - one in each row of elastic.

1st row - we knit in the same color as the elastic band - white.

2nd row - from the second row we change the color of the thread to gray as in the photo:

And we continue to knit this row in a circle with single crochets.

In the center, opposite the seam - on the other side we will have a pigtail pattern.

We reach this place, and we knit 6 (LRS) - we make a crochet on the hook and insert the hook, capturing the column not of the previous row, but one row below it - in front of it.

So we tie the front columns. So you need to knit 2 more rows, that is, there will be a total of three rows of facial columns. That is, we knit ordinary single crochets in a circle, and above the front ones - we knit 6 front columns - so 3 rows.

5th row - will be cross. That is, we will knit the front columns out of order, but first we skip the first three columns and knit the 4th, 5th and 6th front columns. And then we return and knit the missed 1st, 2nd and 3rd columns:

6th, 7th and 8th rows - we knit a pigtail as in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th row, knitting 6 facial columns in order.

The 9th row is crossed again - we will knit the 5th row.

Tied to the base of the thumb. Now we need to leave a hole for the thumb.

To do this, we will collect 6 air loops and, skipping 6 loops, we knit, starting from the seventh loop, single crochets. This is how it turns out:

So we knitted one row, and in the second row we will make two decreases from the sides of the mittens - from the left and from the right, one decrease each.

We knit a finger:

When we reached the end of the little finger, we will make out the upper part of the mittens, make reductions.

We will decrease in three places - from the side of the palm in the center, and from the sides, one decrease, only three decreases in each row.

The pigtail was knitted in a cross row. From the next row we make 3 decreases - one each in the center of the palm and from the sides, and we knit the pigtail as usual 6 facial columns in order without decreases.

Decrease: we insert the crochet into the loop, grab the working thread, drag it through this loop - we have two loops on the hook, insert the hook into the next loop again, grab the working thread, drag it - now 3 loops on the hook, and we knit these 3 loops together. So we got one out of two columns.

It is important to make reductions exactly one above the other. In order not to get confused, mark the place of the decrease with a marker or a thread of a different color.

Look - here is a column of decreases in the center - one above one:

From the next row we will decrease the pigtail too. after the cross, we have already knitted the first row without reductions. We knit the second row of pigtails like this:

the first front column was knitted as usual, and the second and third are connected into one, then the 3rd and 4th are also connected into one - we made 2 decreases:

photo 1: 2nd and 3rd loose stitch - 3 loops on the hook

photo 2: knit these 3 loops together

knit the remaining 6th column as usual with the front

The third row of pigtails again make reductions. We have 4 columns. We knit the first and second columns in one, the 3rd and 4th are also in one. We will get two facial columns out of 4 already. In the next row, we will also combine these 2 columns into one.

Here's how it turns out:

We knit a finger

We are almost done crocheting a mitten. It remains for us to tie the thumb.

Back to the thumb hole we left. We attach the thread and begin to knit the finger with single crochets in a circle.

We tied it up to about the beginning of the nail plate on our finger and we will make reductions. There are already 4 of them, not three. One opposite the other - front and back and one each from the sides.

Now you know, how to crochet mittens.

Here are the mittens we got:

There is only one problem in this knitting method - you can crochet an imitation of an elastic band, but you cannot knit it elastically, and for children's mittens, an elastic band is extremely important so that they hold well on the hand.

The easiest way to solve this problem is to combine two knitting methods: crochet and knitting needles. Therefore, we will knit the elastic band on two knitting needles, and continue crocheting.

Below I will show how to knit mittens for a child of 1 year or a little older.

For knitting such a model of mittens we will need:

  • 20-30 g of yarn in two colors
  • knitting needles
  • hook

Yarn selection
Any warm yarn is suitable for mittens, except for prickly wool. You can take soft merino wool or a mixture of wool and acrylic. In extreme cases, prickly woolen yarn can be put on the main part of the mittens, and for the elastic, take something softer, since the skin on the wrist is the most sensitive.

Threads are better to choose fluffy thin or medium thickness, but smooth. Crochet is tighter than knitting, and mittens knitted from thick yarn will restrict the movement of the fingers and slip off the palm.

To start knitting, we measure the circumference of the wrist, knit a sample with an elastic band to determine the density of knitting and calculate the number of loops. When calculating the width of the elastic, we take 0.5 cm less than the measured wrist girth.

How to crochet and knit mittens for a child 1-2 years old:

We collect the required number of loops and knit with an elastic band 10 cm.

We close the last row of elastic and sew it along the side seam. When we close the elastic, we try to loosen the knitting a little in order to expand its edge.

We turn the sewn cylinder inside out with a seam inward and continue crocheting in a circle with single crochets from each loop (we knit from the last row of elastic, and not from the first). We take a thread of a different color.

Thus, we knit 5-7 circles (depending on the desired size of the mittens).

In the 6th circle we make a hole for the finger, knitting 7-8 air loops instead of columns.

We continue knitting in a circle to the edge of the little finger.

After that, we begin to narrow the mitten, making one decrease on both sides in each circle. To determine the points of decrease, fold the mitten so that the finger hole is at the bottom of the mitten and starts near its edge.

Having knitted several rows with cuts, turn the knitting inside out and from the wrong side we close the edges with half-columns.

From the hole for the finger we knit the thumb of the mittens in a circle. At the end, you can make a few decreases, or you can simply close the edge without decreasing the loops.

Let's move on to finishing.
We tie the free edge of the elastic band with a row of columns without a crochet with a thread of the main color.

Now we make the cloves in the same color as the gum. To form a clove, we knit from one loop: * single crochet, 3 double crochet, single crochet *. We skip one loop and knit the next clove.
We will wrap the elastic on the mitten, so you can immediately fasten the lapel with a few stitches.

Crochet three petals. To do this, we collect 7 air loops and knit according to the scheme (you can limit yourself to one or two protrusions on the leaf).

(leaf scheme)

Sew the leaves to the mitten.
When knitting the second mitten, do not forget that the thumb should turn out mirrored.

The New Year holidays have passed, but February 23 and March 8 are approaching, which means that you need to prepare gifts for relatives and friends. And if you don’t have a lot of finances or want to pleasantly surprise, then the best way is to make a gift with your own hands. For example, a wonderful woolen scarf or mittens knitted by your own hands. It is not difficult, and the gift will definitely not lie idle.

How to crochet simple mittens?

Mittens can also be knitted, but crochet will come out much faster. For beginners, it is better to use step-by-step instructions so as not to get confused in the loops and not ruin the craft.

Designations:

  • V.P. - air loops
  • CT. - column
  • S.C.N. - double crochet
  • C.B.N. - single crochet
  • W.L.C.C.N. - convex front column with a crochet
  • V.I.C.C.N. - convex purl double crochet

First, we take and collect a long chain of VP, the length corresponding to the distance from the tip of the phalanx of the middle finger to the wrists. The chain is wrapped around with a CCH thread.

Then you need to unscrew the canvas and make S.B.N., and then turn it over and throw S.S.N. again. For a round corner, you need to make 11 columns. Thus we made half of the mittens.

The mitten consists of two halves tied with S.B.N. Be sure to make a hole for your finger!

Scheme and description for knitting mittens

In order to sew a nice cuff on a mitten, you need to make S.B.N. every 23 V.P. Further 3 V.P.P., S.S.N., in the last. P. 7 S.S.N., S.S.N. to the end of R. - S.S.N.

V.P.P., S.B.N. 2 S.B.N. * 6 in ST. past R. - Lush S.T. V.P.P., S.B.N. 2 S.B.N. * 6 in ST. past R. for rounding in ST., close to the top, 2 S.S.N. * 6. - "crawl step"

In the slot for the finger, make a strapping S.B.N, from the inside: U.B, 1P., int. P.R, and so in every new R.

So, when you have knitted to the desired length, you can fasten and cut the thread. You can also sew a chain of V.P between the mittens so that they do not get lost. Very convenient for children.

The drawings give a detailed diagram of the process of making mittens, and if you follow it, you will end up with excellent mittens that are not afraid of any frost.

Crochet mittens master class for girls

Another interesting way to knit beautiful mittens for a child 1.5-2 years old. It is winter outside now and you should definitely make sure that the hands of the kids are warm, because they get sick much faster and like to grab all sorts of nasty things on a walk.

Mittens have a definite plus over gloves: they are wool and keep all fingers close, creating additional warmth. And these mittens are also knitted from two layers, which makes them ideal for a child.

Let's start by taking the approximate dimensions of the child's wrist (12 cm), the length of the palm to the end of the longest phalanx of the finger (10 cm) and measuring the width of the palm (7 cm). We also need about 100 g of gray and white yarn, a hook.

We make a long chain of 37 VP, close the loops in a ring and continue knitting in a circle. First we go from the elastic - 3 loops in the rise, 2 - convex S.S.N, 2 sinking S.S.N and so on alternating to the end of the entire row. An elastic band is required a certain length, for our sizes - 5 cm.

Where the thumb is - we knit a chain of 3 V.P, then we continue to do according to the scheme. The next row we knit a new loop over each loop of the chain and continue to take to the length we have determined. In this product - 11 cm.

We sew the same ends with each other, from the front side you need to tie S.B.N. The length of the finger in our product is 5 cm. When making a finger, the loops do not need to be cut to the end, just tie to the length we need, turn out and sew.

Next we knit the lining. Where there is an elastic band, we attach a thread and tie a mirror image of the mittens, but we knit without a C.S.N pattern, we sew the ends of the lining and tuck into the mitten.

Mittens are ready! If you want, they can be decorated with additional ornaments.

If it’s too difficult for you to knit mittens according to the pattern, you may be able to sign up for a simple master class on mittens in order to try to make your own version of mittens in practice under an experienced eye. But first, be sure to try it yourself, there is nothing complicated in knitting and you will enjoy the process if you take up this business yourself.

You can also try to teach your child to knit mittens, this will teach him perseverance and also make nice gifts to others with your own hands.

You can use threads of any color and achieve amazing results!

How to knit mittens with your own hands

  • First of all, be patient, the knitting process is quite painstaking. It's not difficult, but haste can ruin the result. It will be a shame to redo it all over again, making a mistake in one loop.
  • Prepare a free evening, turn on pleasant music, take a crochet hook and beautiful woolen threads.
  • Prepare your workspace for knitting. After that, get to work.

Let your work be productive, and the resulting mittens be strong and neat.
