The art of knitting has been around for a long time. The inquisitive human mind, having peeped plant weaves in nature in ancient times, applied this knowledge for its own benefit to subsequently invent a great craft for the production of knitted clothes.

Nowadays, the applied meaning has changed and expanded so much that handicraft is not called anything other than art. Knitting is a huge segment in the total scope of possibilities and tools of this unique craft. And today we will deal with such a part of it as knitting a raglan model.

Raglan: what is it?

Let's start with a definition. Fashion history ascribes the name "raglan" to a special type of sleeve cut, drawn together with the shoulder part of the shelf and back of the product, to the British military leader Baron Raglan, who, after losing his arm in the Battle of Waterloo, wore clothes sewn according to this principle. In this way, he masked the absence of a hand. No one knows if such a trick helped him, but the term "raglan" took root and from that time means just such a cut.

Raglan in knitwear

This type of clothing cut is convenient in many respects: it makes the shoulders soft, the absence of a seam eliminates the possibility of the product getting wet when exposed to rain. Not only seamstresses appreciated the principles of constructing such a sleeve. Knitters have also adopted it for a long time.

The raglan scheme is simple and convenient. There are two ways of such knitting - from below and from above. Starting from the bottom of the elastic is perhaps more understandable for beginner needlewomen, but the correct calculation of knitting raglan from above makes it possible to learn a faster and more economical way of knitting, and also allows the knitter to significantly increase the level of skill.

Knitting raglan from above: the benefits

Starting work from the neck has many advantages:

 • lack of seams, which is of particular importance in the manufacture of children's clothing;
 • significant time savings on stitching parts;
 • the possibility of changing the length in one direction or another, if the need arises;
 • circular knitting of raglan with knitting needles involves a small number of ends of the threads, and the dissolution of the product will subsequently give a thread that is quite suitable for new work.

Disadvantages of the method

The disadvantage of raglan knitting is considered by many to be a large number of loops involved in the work (we are considering knitting without a seam in a circle), as well as some limitations in the choice of patterns - not all of them are convenient or even possible in circular knitting.

However, when acquiring the necessary skills and using simple devices and tools, the craftswoman quickly gets used to not noticing these inconveniences in her work, since knitting raglan from above is an exciting needlework.

Tools and fixtures

For a convenient and comfortable workflow, the following tools are needed:

 • Circular knitting needles. It is advisable to have several pairs that differ in numbers and length of fishing line. The beginning of work and the elastic band of the neck of the “raglan sweater” model with knitting needles, as a rule, are knitted with small needles, in the future it will be necessary to switch to larger tools.
 • A set of stocking needles (for knitting sleeves with a seamless method).
 • Markers for marking sleeves, shelves and back.
 • Row counter (not always required, but often necessary when knitting in the round).

Raglan knitting from the neck: loop test calculation

Before proceeding with the manufacture of the model, it is necessary to calculate the loop test. For this, a sample of the selected pattern is knitted from 35-40 loops 12-14 cm high. It should “lie down”, since the knitwear tends to change in size. You can wet it, dry it and steam it. After that, the knitting density is calculated, i.e. by simple measurements with a superimposed ruler, they find out how many loops and rows are contained in one centimeter of the knitted fabric.

A smaller measurement error is allowed if they are made in a square with sides of 10 cm. Then the indicators are divided by 10, so they get more reliable information about how many rows and loops contain 1 cm of the pattern selected for the future model.

Since such a procedure is necessary, many professional knitters use a template that you can make yourself by cutting out a square with a side of 20 cm from thick cardboard or plastic. Another square with sides equal to 10 cm is cut out in the middle of the workpiece. It turns out a kind of frame. It is applied to the sample. By counting the stitches and rows included in the pattern, and then dividing them by 10, you can quickly find out the necessary information. For example, the knitting density of our loop sample was 2.5 loops per 1 cm. There are 3 rows in a sample of 1 cm in height.

Neck length calculation

Knitting involves the correct calculation of the length of the neck. We have already established the knitting density, then we measure the circumference of the neck. According to accepted Russian standards, a women's sweater of size 48 has a neck length (or neck circumference) equal to 36 cm. It is necessary to measure the neck of a person for whom the future product is knitted, and according to accepted standards, measurements can be corrected.

So, the neck circumference is 36 cm. Given the calculated density - 2.5 loops per 1 cm, we find the number of loops needed to start knitting - 2.5 x 36 cm = 90 loops.

Calculation of neck loops by segments

The correctly calculated number of loops determines the successful knitting of raglan from the neck. The calculation is very important, but it should be borne in mind that the neckline of the back is significantly higher than the neckline of the front. That is why the easiest way to parse loops is based on a percentage: 44-45% of the total number of loops falls on the front neck, 34-35% on the back neck and 10-11% on each shoulder.

It must be remembered that before starting the calculation of loops by segments, it is necessary to subtract loops from the total number of loops (90), which will be directly ragged lines. There are four such lines. If a line in one loop is planned, then the total number of loops is reduced by 4 (1 x 4 = 4 loops), respectively, raglan lines of 2 loops each reduce the total number of neck loops by 8 (2 x 4 = 8 loops).

In our example, each raglan line consists of 2 loops, so the total number of neck loops for calculation by segments is 82 (90 - 8 = 82 loops). This will be the starting number for the calculation:

Front 82 x 44% = 36 loops;

Backs 82 x 34% = 28 loops;

Shoulder segments 82 x 11% = 9 loops for each part.

Beginning of work

We start knitting. A raglan sweater can be started by ribbed the neck, but it is better to tie it after the whole product is knitted. So, we collect 90 loops on the knitting needles in any way that provides a non-stretching elastic edge.
We knit an auxiliary row with facial loops and combine knitting in a circle. We make the markings of future raglan lines and the central front loop. To do this, we use markers, or threads of contrasting shades, i.e. any convenient device. The left raglan line will be considered the beginning of the row.

vyvyazyvanie sprout

For a good fit of the future product, we start knitting raglan with knitting needles by knitting a sprout, i.e. we increase the height of the back by partial knitting and align the number of loops of the neck of the back to the number of loops involved in knitting the neck of the front. So, we knit raglan with knitting needles. The scheme is this:

The first row (front) is knitted along the back from the left to the right raglan line. Raglan lines are knitted in this way - nakid, 2 front, 3rd is removed with a twist to avoid a hole on the canvas. Then we turn the work over and knit the purl row, ending it like this: remove the wrapped loop, knit 2 loops, yarn over, two loops of the raglan line.

We raise the 2nd increase of the raglan line from the broach and extend the partial knitting, knitting 2 loops, the third is removed with a twist. This continues for 8 rows, each row of partial knitting adds 3 loops, as a result of which we get the same number of loops in front and back. From the next row, front loops also enter into partial knitting, knitting continues in the same vein, gradually and carefully adding 3 loops in each row. The eighteenth row is the last in partial knitting. From the nineteenth row, we make full circles of knitting, adding in each front row a crochet on both sides of the raglan line, and in each wrong side - knitting them.

The initial partial knitting of raglan from the neckline, the calculation of which only at first glance seems complicated, is important for the quality fit of the future product. In order not to confuse the rows, we use a counter. Thus, we knit to the height of the armhole.

Knitting the body of the product

Raglan with knitting needles, the scheme of which is simple, is knitted 30-32 cm. This length of raglan lines is standard for the 48th size. You can measure the height of the armhole and, multiplying by the number of rows in 1 cm, check with the standard. Trying on will also eliminate the error: the raglan lines of both halves should meet under the arm. Having knitted the required number of rows in the "raglan sweater" model with knitting needles, we proceed to the formation of the body of the product.

On additional knitting needles (or rather a fishing line or thread), the sleeve loops are removed, distributing the loops of the raglan lines proportionally between all the details. With the next row, all the loops of the front and back are combined and knitted to a certain length in a circle, no longer making an increase.

If you want to make the sweater more feminine, according to the figure, then you can fit the product by making calculations of reductions to the waist line and additions to the hips line. Decreases and increases are made along the seam line. The work is finished with an elastic band.

Sleeves

It is easier to knit the sleeves in straight rows, but if you want to see them as seamless, like a body, then it is more convenient to work on stocking needles, not forgetting to shape the bevels, i.e. make decreases in every sixth row along the line of an imaginary seam.

As soon as the sleeve is tied to the cuff, they begin to knit a 2x2 elastic band from two front ones on the decrease line. It should not be over tightened. After the first two knits, one purl is knitted, the next purl is knitted from the broach, continuing this algorithm. The second sleeve is knitted by analogy with the first.

Product gate decoration

As soon as the sleeves are ready, it remains to tie the collar of the sweater. We transfer all the loops of the neck to the knitting needle. The first additional row is carefully removed. Gaining loops for knitting elastic bands, they make the same increases as in sleeve elastic bands, i.e. every second purl rises from the broach of the previous row. The height of the collar is also purely individual, or corresponds to the chosen sweater model.

Ways to design a raglan line

In our example, we used the simplest raglan line, consisting of 2 facial loops. Often raglan lines act as a magnificent decorative finish. There are many options for knitting them: it can be intricate braids, stylized hems and cascades of holes. Additions with the help of crochets can also be knitted in different ways. A crossed loop does not form a hole, and knitting a crochet with a simple loop forms a line of holes along the raglan.

So, the article presents the simplest raglan knitting pattern. Nevertheless, even the most experienced craftswomen use this principle of building a model in their work. Note that this method, raglan from the neck, the calculation of which is quite simple, opens up many opportunities for decorating the model - from choosing a pattern to elegant design of the neck and raglan lines. The discovery of this method of constructing a model pattern not only diversified the art of clothing production, but also raised it to a higher level of development, feeding the amazing ideas of knitters.

Work description

On two pairs of circular needles No. 3.5, dial with an edge with open loops 98 p., Knitting in a circle. Set aside knitting from one pair of knitting needles, close the loops with a hook with a contrasting thread for the purpose of subsequent knitting.

From the other working pair of knitting needles in the 1st WRONG row, distribute stitches for knitting raglan according to scheme No. 2,

Scheme No. 2 "Raglan"

and knit like this:

knit the first 20 sts out, transfer them to an additional knitting needle (pin) - these are the loops of the 1st shoulder,

knit the next 29 p. and translate to add. knitting needle (pin) - loops in front,

knit the next 20 sts. and leave on the working knitting needles - loops of the 2nd shoulder,

the remaining 20 p. transfer to additional. knitting needle (pin) - back loops.

Continue knitting 20 p. shoulder on working needles. Knit faces. stitch 23 persons. row = shoulder length will be 18 cm. Transfer open p. to additional. knitting needle (pin) or close with a waste contrasting thread.

Shoulder width - 9 cm

Back.

Transfer the open 29 p. of the back to the working knitting needles. To form the back fabric, pick up loops from the edge of each shoulder. Dial 35 sts on each side in 3 stages, forming a sprout along the back of the product: in each approach, get in each of the next of 3 persons. rows of 10 + 12 + 13 p.

Knit as follows: on the front side of the product, attach the thread to the right edge of the open p. Knit a row to the end of out. Expand knitting, get 10 sts on the front side from left to right and knit a row of faces. to the end, on the left side, get 12 sts in the 2nd approach, unfold knitting, knit a row to the end of out., unfold knitting and get 12 sts of the second approach from left to right and knit a row of faces. to end.

Perform the same addition of 13 loops of the 3rd approach. The total number on the back will be 99 p. = Width approx. 58 cm.

Next, knit the back with the front stitch for another 25 front rows to the total height of the armhole from the line of addition along the edge of the armhole approx. p. The total number on the back will be 119 p.

Open p. translate into additional. knitting needles (pin) and set aside by knitting.

Before.

Open 29 p. Transfer to working knitting needles.

In the 1st front row of knitting, similarly to the back of the product, get 31 sts from the hem shoulders on each side in 2 stages: 15 + 16 sts = 91 sts in front.

Starting from the 3rd row = this is the row of the second approach of adding loops, knit the “base” for knitting the “Scythe” pattern: chrome., 11 rapports * 2 out., 6 faces. *, chrome. (the number of rapports for a symmetrical arrangement on the front part should be odd). Knit out. a row, after distributing the pattern on the extreme 16 p., then knit the p. according to the pattern.

In the next persons. in a row, start knitting the pattern by completing the 1st braid overlap = 5 episodes + 6 episodes of stripes of the front surface. Next, continue to knit with a pattern, another 23 faces. row = 20 cm from the line of adding loops along the edge of the fabric. Then perform 3 additions to round the armholes similarly to the back of the product, 2 + 3 + 4 p., while out. side of the product in each next row, after additions, include newly typed points in the pattern pattern: in the last out. 14 rapports of the pattern are formed in a row + 3 persons each. from each edge = total number on the front of the product 111 p.

In the next persons. Knit a front stitch in a row, attach open 119 stitches of the back = 230 stitches and then continue to knit with a single fabric while simultaneously making a pattern along the front of the product.

After 43 cm from the bottom edge of the armhole, go to knitting the cuff with an elastic band 2x2. Knit 8 circular rows, 1 row with a 2x2 elastic band, 2 rows with a double hollow elastic band and close all the stitches at the same time in a “machine” way.

Assembly

Sew side seams front and back on both sides with a vertical knit stitch.

gate

Weave a contrasting thread on the closed loops of the collar, transfer them to knitting needles No. 3.0 for circular knitting, then knit in a circle in the following order:

1 row: purl

2nd row: whole row *knit 3, yarn over*

3rd row: the entire row * persons., remove the next st, without knitting, the thread before work *, while the yarn of the previous row should be performed according to the pattern of the crossed st.

4-7 rows: double hollow elastic band

8 row: knit the entire row with an elastic band 1x1, while at the same time perform decreases * 3 p. According to the figure, 2 p.vm. according to the drawing*.

Continue knitting 12 cm with an elastic band 1x1, then close all the points at the same time with a needle.

Sleeve

Transfer the open 20 p. of the shoulder to the working knitting needles No. 3.5, attach the thread to the beginning of the row along the front side of the product, bring out 1 p. p. persons., at the end of the row, get 1 p. on the left from the hem armhole = 22 p. in total on the needles, unfold knitting, remove the 1st p. without knitting, knit the row to the end of the p. Expand knitting, get to the right from the hem 1 p., Knit a row of faces., At the end of the row, get 1 p. to the left from the hem, unfold knitting, knit the whole row to the end of the out. Expand the knitting and then continue to knit with the front stitch, gaining in each next person. a row of 1 p. from each edge of the edge armholes. SIMULTANEOUSLY twice in the 3rd and 5th persons. rows to get from the hem from the side of the back of the product 2 p. at the same time, of which the 1st p.

Continue knitting with additional sts until the total number on the needles is 64 sts, then in the next 3 front rows for rounding along the lower edge of the sleeve rim, simultaneously get 2 + 3 + 4 sts on each side of the fabric = the total number on the sleeve will be 82 p.

Then close the fabric in a circle, knit 2 p.m. at the beginning and at the end of the row = only 80 p. of the sleeve, put the marker at the beginning of the row, and knit in circular rows with front stitch to a length along the inner fold from the armhole 48 cm, while for the bevel of the sleeve, starting from the 5th circular knitting row, 10 more times to perform decreases in each 5th person. row, knitting 2 p.v. before and after the marker = 60 p. For the next 13 rows, knit the cuff with an elastic band 2x2, knitting 2 p.vm three times. (total number 54 p.) = cuff height 5 cm, close all p. at the same time with a needle.

Knit the second sleeve in the same way.

Moisten the finished sweater, dry it in a straightened form.

SWEATER SCHEME

The sweater is ready.

Knitting a hollow gum according to MK is finished

Only 100 loops.
4 loops - raglan lines (I will knit with purl loops)
The remaining 96 loops will be distributed as follows:
32 loops on the back
11 loops per sleeve
42 loops on the front.

On the needles it will look like this

42p. front + 1p. raglan + 11p. sleeve + 1p. raglan + 32p. back + 1p. raglan + 11p. sleeve + 1p. raglan

Next, you will need to knit the back (or knit the sprout). On a children's sweater, this is not necessary, but for adults it is necessary.
Knitting will need to be partial knitting.
In order to avoid holes near the gate, I suggest learning how to knit a boomerang loop.
Very well about the loop "boomerang" is told in videos

The addition of loops near the raglan line will be made from broaches as in the figure

The red marker shows the place of the raglan line or the beginning of the back. Knitting should be started three loops before the raglan line - these are three loops of the sleeve.

1 row - 2 persons, 1 loop from the broach (hereinafter I will denote it as P), 1 persons. (loop in front of the raglan line), 1 out. raglan loop (hereinafter I will denote it with the letter P), 1 person. (loop after the raglan line), P, 30 persons. loops, P, 1 persons (loop in front of the raglan line), R, 1 persons. (loop after the raglan line), P, 2 persons.

We unfold the work and knit the second row (wrong side).

2 row - loop "boomerang", 3 loops out., P (in the wrong row we knit faces.), 34 p.

3 row - loop "boomerang", 5 persons., P, 1 persons., R, 1 persons., P, 32 persons. pet., P, 1 person., R, 1 person., P, 3 persons. sleeves + 3 persons. sleeves

4 row - boomerang loop, 7p. out., P, 36 out. back loops, R, 8 purl. pet. sleeves +3 out. sleeve loops.

We turn the work face to face

5 row - loop "boomerang", 9 persons. , P, 1 persons., R, 1 persons., P, 34 persons., P, 1 persons., R, 1 persons., P, 5 persons. sleeves + 3 persons. sleeves

We unfold the work with the wrong side towards us.

6 row - loop "boomerang", 11 out., P, 38 out., P, 12 out. sleeve loops + 2 purl. sleeve loops

We turn the work with the front side towards us.

7 row - loop "boomerang", P, 12 persons., P, 1 persons., R, 1 persons., P, 36 persons., P, 1 persons., R, 1 persons., P, 11 persons. sleeves + 1 person. , P, 1 persons.

At this stage, we introduced all the loops of the sleeves into the work by partial knitting.

We unfold the work with the wrong side towards us.

8 row - loop "boomerang", 15 out., P, 40 out., P, 16 out. + P, 2 out. (we begin to put the front loops into work)

We turn the work with the front side towards us.

I think that now the principle of introducing loops into work is clear. It remains for us to partially knit a few rows. I will designate it as +2 loops, + 3 loops, + 3 loops. This means that on each side of the front we need to add 8 loops to the work in three steps. Next, knitting will be in a circle. The addition of loops from the broach about "1 person., R, 1 person" will need to be done through a row.

Please note that the "beginning of the row" now comes from the raglan line, which is located on the left side of the front, so I will transfer the red marker to this line.

Since the loops of the sleeve are already fully in our work, we can make two simple “pigtails” on the sleeve, I will leave the middle 14 loops with the front ones, and I will make the “pigtails” from the added loops.

On the back I have 38 loops in the middle will be front, and from the added loops I will make the same “pigtail” as on the sleeve, then there will be a strip and 9 loops (1 knit, 7 loops of the “pearl” pattern, 1 knit) and one more "pigtail". (I will gradually add a photo)

Also, my “pigtail” will begin to knit from the raglan line along the front. You can say this: at the same time, from all raglan lines, I begin to knit the “pigtail” pattern, which consists of 7 loops = 2 out. , 3 persons., 2 out.

I prefer to take three loops together for the back wall, it’s more convenient for me, if it’s more convenient for you for the front wall, then do it for the front.

From the three front I knit three loops as follows

1. I take three loops together for the back wall

2. I knit the front one, I don’t remove three loops from the left knitting needle

3. yarn over on the right needle

4. I insert the right knitting needle into three loops on the left knitting needle and knit another front

5. I remove three loops from the left knitting needle

Thus, from three loops, I knitted three loops.

On the front of the sweater between the pigtails I will knit according to this pattern

Knitting density: 22 p. x 30 p. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with an elastic band with knitting needles No. 4.5.

Attention! As a result of decreases and increases in loops, the ribbed pattern changes direction.

Description of knitting a men's pullover with knitting needles

Back. On knitting needles No. 4, dial 124 (132 - 140) 148 p. And for the lower strap, knit with an elastic band, while in the 1st row (= out. row) after the hem, start with 2 out. and 2 persons., finish the row symmetrically.

After 6.5 cm = 20 p. from the typesetting row, switch to knitting needles No. 4.5. In the next persons. Distribute a row of loops as follows: chrome, 1 decorative decrease, 52 p. elastic bands, make a mark, 2 yarn overs (knit these yarn over in the next wrong row according to the pattern crossed), 5 (9 - 13) 17 p. elastic bands, 2 p. knit together front = middle of the back, 2nd half of the back symmetrically: 2 p. knit a row according to the crossed pattern), make a mark, 52 p. gum, 1 decorative decrease, chrome. In the next out. knit a row of loops according to the pattern, while the yarns are crossed.

Distribution of loops in persons. the row above, repeat in each next person. 43 times in a row, while increasing and decreasing in the same places, move the marks in the process to the outer edge (after the 1st mark and before the 2nd mark, perform 2 yarn overs), the outer sections of the elastic become narrower, and middle ones are wider.

After 32.5 cm = 88 p. from the bottom bar, close on both sides for armholes 1 time for 9 p. = 106 (114 - 122) 130 p. For raglan bevels, perform on both sides in each 2nd p. 27 (32 - 35) 39 times 1 decorative decrease B, at the same time perform one more decrease in the pattern, as at the beginning = together with the ragged decreases, the sections of the gum will become even narrower. After decorative decrease In the next 44 (48 - 52) 56 p. knit with an elastic band, 2 p. knit together with the front, 1 person., mark, 2 yarn over, 1 p. knit according to the pattern, 2 p. knit together with the front = middle line, Knit 2 p. together with the front with a slope to the left, 1 p. knit according to the pattern, 2 yarn over, mark, 1 person., 2 p. knit together the front with a slope to the left, the next 44 (48 - 52) 56 p. underlined decrease B. With this distribution of loops, perform another 23 (24 - 27) 28 persons. rows. In the next persons. row for dim. 46/48 and 54/56 perform only both reductions in the middle, and for size. 58 external reductions before and after the marks, perform only 1 time.

After 18 (21.5 - 23.5) 26 cm = 54 (64 - 70) 78 p. from the beginning of the raglan bevels, temporarily postpone the remaining 50 points.

Before. Knit like a back.

Sleeves. On knitting needles No. 4, dial 58 (62 - 66) 70 p. And knit with an elastic band, while in the 1st row (= out. row) after the hem, start from the 1st out., 2 persons. and 2 out. (from 1 person., 2 out. and 2 persons. - from the 1st out., 2 persons. and 2 out.) from the 1st person., 2 out. and 2 persons., finish the row symmetrically. After 6.5 cm = 20 p. from the typesetting row, go to knitting needles No. 4.5 and for bevels on both sides add first 1 time for 1 p., then in every 10th p. 4 times 1 p. And in every 8th p. 11 more times 1 p. (in each 8th p. 14 times 1 p. and in each 6th p. 3 more times 1 p. - in each 8th p. 8 times 1 p. and in every 6th p. 11 more times, 1 p.) in every 8th p. 2 times 1 p. This master class is about how to knit a men's sweater with knitting needles with diagrams and descriptions.

There are quite a few models of men's sweaters - "with a throat", pullovers with various patterns and cutout shapes, with a raglan seam. According to the execution, men's sweaters differ from women's in straight even knitting (no fitting) and long sleeves. In addition, most men's sweaters have a looser fit than women's sweaters, as they are often worn over shirts and other clothing.

How to knit a men's sweater with knitting needles, consider the example of different models with different knitting methods.

Step by step instructions

Every man has a classic warm sweater with a high neckline. This simple winter model has not gone out of fashion for a long time.

You can knit such a sweater yourself: knitting is simple and understandable and can be the first experience of bulk knitting for beginners.

Necessary materials:

 • yarn - 100% wool, 120 m / 50 g blue or black (16-20 balls);
 • knitting needles No. 3 and 3.5;
 • circular knitting needles No. 3;
 • auxiliary needle;
 • assembly needle.

Knitting density of sample 10×10 cm:

 • for knitting needles No. 3.5 - 22 loops for 30 rows;
 • for knitting needles No. 3 - 23 loops for 30 rows.

Size: 46-48 (50-52).

The addition and decrease of loops has designations like "1 × 2x4", which means "1 time 2 loops in every 4 rows".

Progress:

 1. We start knitting from the back: we collect 110 (120) loops on knitting needles No. 3, mark the beginning of knitting with a marker and knit a 6 cm elastic band 2 × 2;
 1. For size 46-48, we evenly add 2 loops in the last row of gum (112 loops);
 1. Change to needle size 3.5 and work for about 44 cm as follows: 12 (11) sts in rib 2×2, next 88 (98) sts in stockinette stitch and again 12 (11) sts in rib;
 1. We make each decrease on two sides - 1 × 2x4 and 11 × 2x6 (6 × 2x4 and 8 × 2x6);
 1. Having connected the canvas to 67 (68) cm from the first, typesetting edge, we close the central 16 (18) loops for the neck and finish each side separately;
 1. We decrease 2 × 6x2, and after 69 (70) cm of the canvas we close the remaining loops on both sides;
 1. We knit in front, like a back, but with a deeper neckline;
 1. Having connected 56 (57) cm, we close 12 (14) loops in the center and finish each side separately;
 1. Close 1x3x2, 2x2x2, 2x1x2, 3x1x4, 2x1x6;
 1. Having connected 69 (70) cm, we close the remaining loops on each side;
 1. We start knitting sleeves: we collect 58 (62) loops on knitting needles No. 3 and we knit an elastic band 6 cm;
 1. We make increases 7 × 1x8, 13 × 1x6 (7 × 1x8, 13 × 1x6);
 1. Having connected 47 cm, for a raglan seam, we close 2 loops once (only for sizes 46-48);
 1. We make decreases 6 × 4x6 (5 × 4x6) and 3 × 4x4 (5 × 4x4), and in the next 3 rows make 2 decreases through 9 loops, through 8 loops, through 7 loops, respectively;
 1. We make the last decrease (14 loops should remain) and close all the loops;
 1. We make shoulder seams;
 1. We make a collar: on circular knitting needles along the neckline, we collect 136 (140) loops and knit first with the front stitch, and then with an elastic band, close after 21 cm;
 1. Stitch the sleeves, sew up the side seams.

Diagram as a hint:

This Irish pullover is knitted from the top, starting at the collar, and features patterned shoulders that blend into the sleeves to avoid a shoulder seam.

It is not difficult to knit such a model, the main thing is to deal with the beginning of knitting, that is, with a collar and shoulders.

Required materials and tools:

 • yarn 100% wool (120 m / 50 g) - 16-20 balls;
 • stocking knitting needles (3 and 3.5);
 • circular knitting needles (3 and 3.5);
 • additional knitting needle for knitting patterns (braids).

Density: 22 loops for 30 rows for a sample of 10x10 cm. Size 50-52 (54-56).

It is convenient to do fittings in the process of knitting - this will allow you to make a sweater according to the figure, taking into account all the features.

General job description:

 1. For the collar, cast on the required number of stitches on the stocking needles (according to the circumference of the neck and the knitted sample) and knit in a circle with an elastic band 1x1 or 2x2 about 15 cm (more can be).
 1. For wide shoulder stripes, the loops are divided equally and knitting continues in two directions. For "narrow" shoulders, it is necessary to count the required number of loops on both sides, and transfer the remaining loops to a knitting pin.
 1. Knit shoulders with a pattern (for example, braids) to the desired length. The extreme loops remain open (transferred to a pin).

 1. Transfer the loops along the edges of the “shoulder straps” and the remaining (if any) loops on pins to long knitting needles and knit the back and front separately on both sides, taking into account the expansion for the chest and sleeves. When the places of the sleeves are passed (you can find out by trying on), knitting is transferred to circular knitting needles and knitted in a circle.

The front and back can also be knitted separately and then sewn to the edges of the shoulder strips. For this, 116 (124) loops are cast on, an elastic band 1 × 1 is knitted, and then the main part of the pullover (satin stitch or patterns). For bevels, 1 loop is added on both sides in each 16th row. For raglan bevels (product height 43 cm) it closes once on both sides 6 loops, and then one 24 (27) times. After 59 (61) cm close all loops.

 1. For sleeves, the remaining loops of the shoulder strips that are not closed are transferred to circular or stocking knitting needles. Further, extreme loops are drawn in two directions from the walls of the front and back.
 1. Sleeves are knitted in the round to the cuff (they can be increased or narrowed to the hands);
 1. The cuff and edges of the front and back are worked in 1x1 or 2x2 ribbing.

Other models can also be knitted from top to bottom, but for this you need to master the raglan from above, i.e. top seam connecting sleeves, front and back. Sometimes, this is the most difficult part in knitting a sweater.
